Tom Gemmill reminded us to get mentally prepared to bid, and bid high, on the very exciting strawberry auction being held next week. He says to not mind the risk involved with trying to outbid your friends, it is all for a good cause! He also mentioned talking to your tablemates and going in and bidding together as being a great option.
Four of the offered baskets of berries will come with dinner for two at The Loft Restaurant at 6 pm wednesday night. A $75 value or more depending on libations.
Remember, 100% of the proceeds will go to the individual strawberry grower and the Rotary Club of Lancaster will contribute $750 to the Max Smith Scholarship Fund.
Please bring wads of cash or a check book!
Announcements
Wheels and Wings Festival & 5K – Just Three Meetings Until Event!
Russ Harlan stated that we are just 3 meetings out from our Wheels and Wings/5K Fundraiser on June 22. More volunteers are needed, as only 15 have signed up so far. Anyone who can spare an hour or more throughout the day is greatly needed and appreciated. Also, more and larger ticket item giveaways are needed.
To date, $20,120.00 has been raised in sponsorships and more pledges are needed to surpass last year’s total. Please consider making a pledge in the coming week. Thank you!

Rotary Foundation
PP Nick Downey updated the club on the Foundation giving levels and thanked everyone for their giving so far. To date, we are just over $26,000.00 raised toward our goal of $30,000.00 by June 30. We are closing the gap, keep giving, we know we will reach it, and great job so far.
Rotary Make-Up Road Trip Invite
PP Bob “I’ll drive” Minney announced that all members are invited on June 12 to travel to the Lake Norman Rotary Club outside Charlotte, NC as a make-up and to visit PP Paul Quinn’s Cove and boating residence. Overnight accommodations are available, and a large front porch is included for fellowship. All are invited to join the 3 adventurous travelers on this epic road trip. If enough people sign-up, Bob said he will drive the bus. That’s service above self.
Rotary Youth Exchange - Looking for Host Families!
The Club is hosting a student for the 2019-20 school year; he is an outstanding 15-year-old young man from Mexico who will arrive in August and return home the following June.
This young man enjoys movies, video games, music, skateboarding, soccer, volleyball, tennis, Taekwondo, robotics and computers. He would also like to explore acting. He lives with his parents and older brother. He has studied English for 11 years and considers himself fairly fluent in English. He has no health concerns.
We MUST find three host families for this young man; each family will host for about three and a half months. He will attend McCaskey High School.
