“Women in the Air Force: Moving Beyond ‘Coffee, Tea, or Me,’”Col Betty Price, USAF, Ret.
Considered one of the women pioneers in the military, Col Betty Price, USAF, ret. was commissioned in 1973 and served for 26 years on active duty, primarily in intelligence. Her distinguished career included assignments at the Air Force Academy, where she helped plan the entry of the first women to that institution; 4 tours in Washington, one of which was on the Secretary of Defense’s personal staff; 1 year at Osan AB in South Korea, where she was in charge of current intelligence; almost 4 years as a commander, where she was responsible for the mission and people of a 500-member targeting intelligence function; and a 4-month operational tour at Incirlik AB in Turkey, where she was chief of intelligence for Operation Provide Comfort. Her assignments also included academic studies at Stanford and the Navy and Air War Colleges.
Focusing on her pioneering days, Betty’s presentation is titled “Women in the Air Force: Moving Beyond ‘Coffee, Tea, or Me’”. In the 1970’s, women in the Air Force were often viewed as somewhat synonymous to airline stewardesses. How the Air Force got beyond that mindset makes an interesting story. Her presentation will relive those days in the 70’s, recount what it was like to be a woman officer, and look at how those efforts opened the door to the amazing utilization of women today.

Rotary Ski Trip
Bill Patrick made the first announcement from the podium for the Annual RCL Ski Trip & Rolling Happy Hour!
Our annual Rotary ski pilgrimage this year is headed back to Elk Mountain Resort. As the Elk Mountain saying goes, "Vermont Skiing without the drive". The Rotary Club of Lancaster will again be joined by the Sunrise Rotary Club in sponsoring the Event.
The date is Thursday, February 6, 2020. We will meet at 5:45 am with the bus departing at 6:00 am from the Lancaster Country Club arriving by Executive Coach at Elk Mountain around 9:30 am. Our group will ski, board and socialize on the Mountain and in the Lodge until about 4:00pm before heading home.
The bus ride home will feature the ever popular. Rotary-rolling-happy-hour with song and tale. We mill make a quick pit stop on the way home and visit our friend Angelo at Aracaro & Genell Italian Restaurant in Olde Forge for salad and pie. The projected trip cost is $90 for the round trip coach, continental breakfast, day of skiing, and happy hour refreshments. Rental skis, boots, and poles are an additional $26. Please make checks out to the Rotary Club of Lancaster which will be collected on the bus on our way to the slopes. Dinner is Dutch treat.

Tip-Off Auction January 29th
