Secretary, PA Department of Environmental Protection
With 15 years of experience holding a number of positions at Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Patrick McDonnell brings a broad perspective to the agency’s regulatory and policy development processes.
Prior to being named Acting Secretary, McDonnell served as DEP’s director of policy. In addition, he ran the State Energy Office, and was charged with coordination of renewable energy and energy efficiency issues. McDonnell also served several years as executive policy manager for former Commissioner Pamela A. Witmer of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, focusing on electric, natural gas and water issues, as well as cybersecurity and the impact of environmental regulation on energy markets.
Secretary McDonnell began his career at DEP working in the State Energy Office on energy efficiency, renewable energy, and green building projects. Throughout his career, McDonnell has worked to achieve success in the nexus between energy and environmental issues.
A native of Philadelphia, Secretary McDonnell received his Master's degree in Political Science from Lehigh University and his Bachelor's Degree in Politics from DeSales University. He and his wife Colleen have four children, and live in Harrisburg.

Rotary Rendezvous
The next Rotary Rendezvous will be on November 14th with Jim Shenk as the moderator. The discussion will involve Faith & The Pledge of Allegiance. As always, the Rendezvous is at Stoner Grille at 5pm.
Car Wash Tickets
The car wash committee will be selling tickets in the back of the room from now until Dec 12th.
Basic Exterior Express tickets are $8 ea. Full Service Int/Ext tickets are $19.00 ea.

World Community Service
Rick Mannix announced a Care Mission Trip to Honduras that leaves February18th, 2019. Dental, Eye and basic Medical care are planned for the mission. Anyone that is interested in joining this mission, please contact Rick or Malcolm MacDougall. No medical experience is needed!
Rotary Basketball Extravaganza
Jim Shenk announced that volunteers are still needed for the Rotary Basketball Extravaganza which is one week away. Please consider helping, attending a game, singing the National Anthem or donating tickets or items for the Auction after the Extravaganza.
Music Committee
The Music Committee invites anyone who can carry a tune to help sing the National Anthem at the upcoming Basketball Extravaganza. Experienced singing harmony not required. Just having more people to sing the melody would be great. One rehearsal will be held on Wednesday, November 14th at 11:30 a.m.
We will be singing the anthem before up to four games:

HURRICANES -THERE SEEMS TO BE NO END TO THEIR DESTRUCTION
Since Hurricanes Harvey and Maria in August 2017, six other major storms struck in the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season.
Our 2017 campaign raised $16,500.00 that was sent to Texas to assist Fuller Center Disaster Rebuilders (FCDR), a 501C3 non-profit. For thirteen years FCDR has been a partner of District 7390 and the Joining Hands organization in the restoration of homes destroyed by hurricanes -- both with Rotary volunteers who have worked on FCDR projects and with numerous Club Grants. On the current FCDR web site D7390 is given recognition for our donation in restoring the Teas home of Sherry Peterman and her children. Additionally, the $30,386.00 collected for Puerto Rico continues to be held in the Rotary Club of Carlisle Foundation account, awaiting the identification of an appropriate project.
For the 2018 hurricane season, on October 9th Michael became the third most intense hurricane to makeU.S. landfall, working its way from Florida to Virginia. HOW WILL D7390 RESPOND? WHILE THERE SEEMS TO BE NO END TO THE NUMBER OF DESTRUCTIVE HURRICANES, WE MUST ACKNOWLEDGE OUR FOTURNE TO LIVE OUTSIDE THE RANGE OF DESTRUCTIVE STORMS. HOW CAN YOU AND YOUR CLUB HELP THOSE WHO LIVE IN SUSEPTABLE AREAS OF OUR COAST?
D7390 is collecting donations in response to Hurricane Michael. All donations will filter through Carlisle Rotary Club Foundation and will be sent to the Fuller Center Disaster Rebuilders in rebuilding homes in New Bern North Carolina. FCDR has assigned Toni and Aaron Ratiff to head up the New Bern operation. Toni will direct the volunteer housing at Cornerstone Church and Aaron will direct the construction crews. They are ready to start work.
