Dentistry in the Covid age and how clinic improvements have made a difference.
Dr. Elizabeth Prada is a board certified pediatric dentist who has been in practice since 2009. She is the Executive Director of the Cleft Palate Clinic and founder of Lime Street Pediatric Dentistry. She attended Duke University for her undergraduate education, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Public Policy in 2002. She completed dental school at the University of Pennsylvania with honors in 2006. Dr. Prada went on to pursue dual specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry and Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her residency at UNC Hospitals in 2009 and a Master’s Degree in Health Care Policy and Management in 2008.
Dr. Prada maintains membership with several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Organization. She is a member of the Department of Surgery at Lancaster General Hospital and the Penn State-Hershey Children’s Hospital. Dr. Prada is also a faculty member within the Penn State College of Medicine.
Established in 1938, the nonprofit Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic is the oldest clinic in the world devoted to the comprehensive care of children born with cleft lips and palates and other craniofacial anomalies regardless of their ability to pay. It was founded by orthodontist Dr. Herbert K. Cooper on the first floor of his home at 24 N. Lime Street. At that time, the clinic offered out-of-town cleft patients a 6-week residency program. Several cleft patients stayed in apartments, supervised by a house mother, and received speech therapy, prosthesis fabrication, and social education. Today, it is the only facility in the United States to offer comprehensive cleft care outside the auspices of a major hospital system.
Our Club will be hosting an inbound exchange student for the 2021-22 school year. We also have an excellent outbound student applying this year who is a senior at McCaskey High School.

The generosity of this club is absolutely inspiring. I'm pleased to announce that in just one week, our club has already raised over $6,000 for this year's Secret Angel project. I want to sincerely thank all of our Secret Angel donors for your generosity and support of Reynolds students. Although we have exceeded our initial fundraising goal of $1,500, I urge you to still consider donating to this important program. Although we have raised enough funds through this club to cover the gifts for each refugee and immigrant student at Reynolds, you can continue to contribute to ensure that every student in the Secret Angel program receives a gift card this holiday season. Donations for the Secret Angel project will be closed once we reach $10,000. If we raise $10,000 dollars, not only will every student in the Secret Angel program receive a gift card, but we may also be able to raise the gift card amount from $15 to $20.

We do not know, at this time, if the Central Market will grant us permission, but the Salvation Army's Lt. Buzzard is working on securing that.

Rotary Global Grants Scholarships fund an awardee’s first year of graduate study abroad in one of Rotary’s six Areas of Focus (listed below). Candidates must live in or attend college in District 7390, which encompasses Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties in Pennsylvania.

My daughter, Emily Marie Hoober George, has taken her husband, Michael, and my two grandchildren Porter, 8 years old and Effie, 4 years old, to a coastal town in Ecuador where they will be staying for a month and a half. They are learning Spanish and South American customs. This is the same daughter Rotary Club of Lancaster sent to Germany via our Rotary Youth Exchange Program in 1997. As you might infer that year abroad changed her life.

On November 21, Jane and I will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary!
Because of the Covid 19 pandemic, we cannot hold the big party we'd planned for the event.
But ..... Just as soon as this plague leaves the kingdom, we can hold even a bigger party and I might get a new Kilt and learn the sword dance to celebrate!!
