Wally started working in the ski industry at age 14. With the exception of a tour of duty in the US Navy, Wally has made an entire career of the ski industry. Wally worked for 29 years for Snow Time Inc. and during that time Wally was Manager of Lift Operation and Maintenance, Ski and Snowboard Rental Operations, Ski Instructor, Ski Patroller, Groomer, Snowmaker, Mountain Manager, General Manager, President and Corporate Risk Manager. Wally has worked since 1992 as a ski industry risk consultant for Safehold Special Risk when it was known originally as Petit Morrey Insurance.
Wally is a member of ASTM F-27 Snow Safety Committee, ASTM F-24 Amusement Ride Committee and ANSI B-77 Ropeway Lift Committee. Wally assists resorts with OSHA consulting, Lift Inspections, Property Inspections as well as Accident Documentation and Incident Investigation Training. Wally recognizes the unique character of each individual ski resort during his operational and technical visits.

Ski Trip Cancelled
Due to weather concerns, the 2019 Ski Trip was cancelled. Bill Patrick could only remember one other time this has happened. Lancaster had in excess of 2 feet of snow. Bill received a call from Michel Gibeault regarding the trip and Michel asked, “we can still make it?”
The Andy Rote Spirit Award was presented to Lisa Lewis his daughter for safe keeping until next year’s event.

Jim Shenk reported the final numbers for our largest fundraiser. Jim thanked all the committee members, sponsors, people that placed ads and the volunteers that made this a successful fundraiser.

Farmer’s Day March 6th
PP Tom “Wie Geht’s” Baum announced Dr. Joe Bender, VMD will speak on “Dairy Sustainability & Profitability” on March 6th. Guest Farmer lists will be at the registration table for members to sponsor a farmer for the meeting.
Rotary Rendezvous February 13th
Wes Farmer will speak at the February 13th “Rendezvous” at Stoner Grille. Wes was with the Lancaster Safety Coalition.
