"Low Level Crime Pardons,”Brandon J. Flood, Secretary of the Board of Pardons -Zoom Mtg
Prior to his appointment as Secretary of the Pennsylvania Board of Pardons, Brandon J. Flood spent nearly a decade working for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, where he served in a multitude of professional capacities, that of which include the positions of Legislative Assistant, Senior Research Analyst for the House Democratic Caucus' Legislative Policy & Research Office (LPRO) and Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus. In the aforementioned roles, Brandon's area of expertise included research and analysis, bill drafting, public relations and mass communications, organizational administration and legislative advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
Following his tenure with the House of Representatives, Brandon went on to serve as Legislative Director for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU-PA) State Council, which currently holds the distinction of being Pennsylvania's second largest public sector union. In this role, Brandon was charged with both developing and advancing SEIU-PA's legislative agenda, tracking relevant legislation, coordinating endorsement interviews, serving as a liaison to the Pennsylvania General Assembly and the Office of the Governor and drafting formal position correspondences on behalf of the organization. Immediately preceding his appointment as Secretary, Brandon served as Policy & Reporting Specialist for the Pennsylvania Department of General Services' Bureau of Diversity, Inclusion and Small Business Opportunities (BDISBO). In this role, Brandon was tasked with developing both internal and external policy for the Bureau, serving as a liaison to the Pennsylvania General Assembly and the Office of the Governor, assisting with the generation of both annual and statutorily mandated agency reports and overseeing the Bureau's various social media and marketing platforms.
Several of his widely recognized professional accomplishments include but are not limited to instituting a full-time Equal Opportunity Officer and attendant Equal Opportunity Advisory Committee for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, successfully advancing legislation urging the City of Harrisburg, the House Democratic Caucus and the Wolf administration to institute a "ban the box" policy relating to employment opportunities under their respective jurisdictions and partnering with the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia (PILCOP) in an effort to target Pennsylvania employers that unfairly discriminate against applicants possessing criminal histories. In addition, from 2015 through February of 2019, Brandon served as Chairman of the Pennsylvania NAACP's Political Action Committee and in 2016 was appointed by the National NAACP to serve as its Civic Engagement Coordinator for Pennsylvania, where he played a contributory role in registering over 1 million new voters across the commonwealth.
Brandon currently resides in Steelton, Pennsylvania, where he also serves as Chairman of the Greater Harrisburg NAACP's Legal Redress Committee and is a sitting member of the Steelton Borough Zoning Hearing Board.

RCL Golf Outing
Last Thursday two foursomes competed for the bragging rights of the Club for the year at Overlook. A scramble format was played and the day was beautiful fall day.
Foursome #1 with a score of 3 under par consisted of: Captain Michel Gibeault, Skip Roderick, PP Bob Minney & PP Andy Fletcher.
Foursome #2 with a score of 10 under par consisted of: Captain Brad Reynolds, PP Nick Downey, PP Sam Altdeorffer & Jim Miller.
So for those non-golfers, Capt. Brad's team won.
All joking aside, it was a wonderful day with wonderful weather and wonderful camaraderie. This editor doesn't understand the lack of participation. $60 with a very nice boxed lunch, two 24oz beers, round of golf and a Rotary Meeting Make-up! It was a great opportunity for those that have been holed-up in their basement to get outside and get the stink off you!
Fundraising
Every year our Club funds projects that improve the lives of people both locally and globally. We raise and give away about $30,000 annually to:
Provide Summer Youth Experiences for Lancaster students
Make Presidential Grants to local nonprofits like UDS
Equip medical and dental clinics and schools in Honduras
Wipe out polio worldwide
In past years the Wheels and Wings Festival and the Tip-Off Tourney generated the funds for these projects. They’re not happening in 2020. Let’s make sure the good our Club does for Lancaster doesn’t take a year off too.
During the month of October, we ask you to make a special gift to the Rotary Club of Lancaster Foundation. If your situation permits, please consider a donation of at least $105 (our Club’s age). You could give the $406 you’ve saved on weekly lunches since March or whatever amount you would have contributed to Wheels and Wings and the Basketball Extravaganza this year. Our goal is $20,000.

Rotary Global Grants Scholarship – District 7390 – 2020/2021 Rotary year
Rotary Global Grants Scholarships fund an awardee’s first year of graduate study abroad in one of Rotary’s six Areas of Focus (listed below). Candidates must live in or attend college in District 7390, which encompasses Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties in Pennsylvania.

Award is for first year only of graduate studies abroad
District 7390 will not fund any applicant’s study which is for the second or later year of a multi-year graduate study program abroad.
Minimum study budget of $30,000 per year. Award capped at $30,000.

Matthew Alton, the son of Jamie Alton and grandson of Bruce Alton, married Lizzie Hallabrin on a beautiful fall day in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday. We are thrilled to have Lizzie as an official member of the family. Now we just hope the only thing we brought home was great memories.
