“Volunteer Income Tax Assistance,”Andrea Heberlein & Jesse Brubacher
Andrea Heberlein is the Vice President of Strategic Impact for United Way of Lancaster County where she helps lead and support community initiatives focused on improving educational outcomes for children, youth, and adults. Most recently, this work has involved incorporating the Collective Impact model to facilitate collaborative and systemic social change. Andrea received her Masters of Social Work (MSW) from Millersville University. Her professional experience includes early care and education community work, service coordination for adults with disabilities, community systems development for children with disabilities, and directing a NAEYC accredited early childhood learning center.
Jesse Brubacher is the Operations Manager of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program powered by United Way of Lancaster County. He received a BA in Quantitative Economics from Millersville University in 2018. After working for VITA as a Site Coordinator during his senior year, he started with VITA full-time in January of 2019.
During tax season, Jesse spends most of his time out at tax sites filing taxes, helping volunteers, and ensuring the sites have everything they need to keep running. Once tax season ends, his focus shifts to volunteer recruitment and training. It’s during this time of year that he reaches out to potential volunteers, coordinates info sessions, and establishes a training schedule and curriculum to ensure that all volunteers enter tax season with the knowledge needed to prepare returns.
