Gail has devoted her professional career to the nonprofit community. She has served in various service areas including geriatrics and poverty related issues. Her early career included creating the Resident Relations department at Willow Valley Retirement Community and starting a nonprofit in her late 20’s. More recently, she has served as the Executive Director of various local nonprofits where she was responsible for all aspects of the operation of the organization as well as the fundraising responsibilities.
She has served on the Mayor’s Council to Combat Poverty, Success by Six Initiative, and the Lancaster County Office of Aging Advisory Board. Rotary Youth Community Service Awards
PP Chuck Blumenstock awarded the RCL Youth Community Service Awards to Emma Conner of Lancaster Catholic High School and Gabriela Nahm of Lancaster Country Day.
Rotary Foundation
PP Nick Downey, representing the Rotary Foundation Committee, addressed the members. The committee is looking at goals and thoughts going forward. The Committee wishes to thank members for contributions to the Rotary Foundation. The Foundation is at 70% of goal. The goal is to raise $30,000, and we are currently at $21,000. The committee will keep announcements going, with entries in the Transmitter, a table set up in the back of the room on meeting day, to keep you informed, and share information about matching dollars and more.
Rotary Rendezvous
The next Rotary Rendezvous will be held on May 22nd. Lancaster Fire Chief Scott Little will be the guest. The Rendezvous will be held at Stoner Grill beginning at 5:00pm for social time, then meeting begins at 5:30pm. Attending this will provide a make up for you. Please contact Tom Baum if you plan to attend.
Rotary Youth Exchange - Looking for Host Families!
The Club is hosting a student for the 2019-20 school year; he is an outstanding 15-year-old young man from Mexico who will arrive in August and return home the following June.
This young man enjoys movies, video games, music, skateboarding, soccer, volleyball, tennis, Taekwondo, robotics and computers. He would also like to explore acting. He lives with his parents and older brother. He has studied English for 11 years and considers himself fairly fluent in English. He has no health concerns.
We MUST find three host families for this young man; each family will host for about three and a half months. He will attend McCaskey High School. If you or anyone you know outside of Rotary is interested in this extremely rewarding experience or would like more info, please contact the committee chairs, Lisa Lewis (daytonduo@aol.com) or Jenn DeWalt (jdewalt@murrayins.com).

Wheels & Wings
John Burkholder spoke on behalf of the Spring Fundraiser committee. Wheels & Wings is planned for Saturday, June 22 at the Lancaster Airport. Volunteers are needed. Also sponsorships are requested. The total sponsorships as of today total $12,750, about $7,000 behind last year. Sponsorships are available in increments from $250 to $3,000, with matching benefits. A $1,000 sponsorship gets your logo on the tee shirt and a banner at the airport. A table will also be set up in the back of the room for meetings between now and June 22. Please stop by to gather more information and sign up to help.
