“A Conversation with a Prosecutor,”Daniel J. Dye, Esq. Pennsylvania Assistant Chief Deputy Attorney General
Daniel J. Dye, Esq. is the Assistant Chief Deputy Attorney General in the Criminal Prosecutions Section of the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.
Dan joined the Attorney General’s Office in 2012. Dan led the groundbreaking five year grand jury investigations into child sexual abuse and cover-up in the Roman Catholic Church in Pennsylvania which uncovered over 350 predatory priests and thousands of child abuse victims. He has continued to prosecute an active caseload of corruption, sex crimes, child abuse, and homicides. In 2015 he convicted a former Philadelphia Common Pleas Judge of public corruption crimes while in office, and in 2018 won a conviction for murder in one of Pennsylvania’s most notorious cold cases.
In addition, Dan is the Director of the Attorney General’s Medical and Legal Advisory Board on Child Abuse, which provides advisory expert analysis to local investigators in difficult to solve child abuse or child homicide investigations.
Prior to joining the Attorney General’s Office, Dan was an Assistant District Attorney in Lancaster County where he prosecuted sexual assault, child abuse, and domestic violence crimes as a member of the Special Victims Unit.
Dan holds a bachelor's degree from Kent State University with majors in criminal justice and psychology, and a law degree from the Penn State Dickson School of Law.
In 2018, Dan was recognized by the Pennsylvania Bar Association as the Government Lawyer of the Year and by the Pennsylvania Family Support Alliance as a Blue Ribbon Champion for Kids.
Dan is a resident of Lancaster County where he resides with his wife and two sons.

Rotary Ski Trip
It’s a new year and Winter is settling into place! It is time to think about snow! Our annual Rotary ski pilgrimage this year is headed back to Elk Mountain Resort. As the Elk Mountain saying goes, "Vermont Skiing without the drive". The Rotary Club of Lancaster will again be joined by the Sunrise Rotary Club in sponsoring the Event.
The date is Thursday, February 6, 2020. We will meet at 5:45 am with the bus departing at 6:00 am from the Lancaster Country Club arriving by Executive Coach at Elk Mountain around 9:30 am. Our group will ski, board and socialize on the Mountain and in the Lodge until about 4:00pm before heading home.
The bus ride home will feature the ever popular. Rotary-rolling-happy-hour with song and tale. We mill make a quick pit stop on the way home and visit our friend Angelo at Aracaro & Genell Italian Restaurant in Olde Forge for salad and pie. The projected trip cost is $90 for the round trip coach, continental breakfast, day of skiing, and happy hour refreshments. Rental skis, boots, and poles are an additional $26. Please make checks out to the Rotary Club of Lancaster which will be collected on the bus on our way to the slopes. Dinner is Dutch treat.

Rotary Global Grants Scholarship District 7390 2019/2020 Rotary Year
Rotary Global Grants Scholarships fund an awardee’s first year of graduate study abroad in one of Rotary’s six Areas of Focus (listed below).
Candidates must live in or attend college in District 7390, which encompasses Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties in Pennsylvania.

Award is for first year only of graduate studies abroad
District 7390 will not fund any applicant’s study which is for the second or later year of a multi-year graduate study program abroad.

Tip-Off Auction
Karl Boltz announced that donations are being accepted for an auction to hopefully raise an additional $5,000 for the club, as an extension of the Tip Off Tournament. Members are encouraged to pick up an extra gift card or bottle of wine for the auction, as they out and about doing their Christmas shopping. The auction will take place sometime around the end of January with date to be determined.
