Gregory Scott, FAIA, is the senior partner at RLPS Architects. A Registered Architect in 22 states, he was recently elevated to the American Institute of Architect’s College of Fellows, the highest honor awarded to members who have made significant contributions to the profession.
Gregg graduated from Penn State and since 2002 has been writing a monthly architectural design column for LNP News.
His local involvement over the years has included past board positions at the Samaritan Counseling Center and the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, as well as Lancaster City Council, serving as president from 1986 to 1988.
Gregg’s personal interests include architectural photography, writing, lecturing, biking, hiking and anything related to Maine’s Acadia National Park.
Having an Impact: Big Ideas Shared at Lively Luncheon
The Club's November 2 “Rotarians in Action” meeting featured delicious meatloaf and a full platter of suggestions to increase the effectiveness of our fundraising and community service efforts. Both areas are integral to our mission, and every member is expected to serve on one of those committees. Josh McManness facilitated the meeting by first splitting the members in the Community Committee from those who had signed up for the Fundraising Committee. Each then broke into smaller groups to discuss how our Club can increase our impact, level of engagement, and visibility in raising funds and making a difference in our community. Each group reported back on their discussions with numerous innovative ideas. President Russ concluded the meeting by expressing his appreciation and thanking everyone for their valuable suggestions.
The Farm & Home Center is in the process of selecting a preferred caterer. Also RCoL is negotiating for a flat fee for use of the Farm & Home Center. The results of these two activities will impact our choice of a caterer and venue.

Announcements
Dues Invoices are out
The Dues Invoices included an increase to $101 quarterly, $202 semi-annually or $404 annually. They may be paid by credit card at meetings. Or they can be made payable and mailed to: Rotary Club of Lancaster; P.O. Box 1387, Lancaster, PA 17608. There are also options to pre-pay for lunch fees. They are for 13 weeks, 26 weeks, or 52 weeks at $16 per week. Any meeting paid and not attended will be donated to the Club. There will be no refunds for this service.

The Last Rotary Rendezvous meeting of 2023 is November 9
Anyone who is interested in joining our committee, looking for fellowship, or simply a night out, please join us for Rotary Rendezvous on Wednesday, November 9th at Southern Market in Lancaster. Parking is available at the Steinman garage or folks can find side street parking. Trivia begins at 7pm.
As a note, this will be our last gathering until 2023.
Arrive anytime between 5-5:30pm for drinks and fellowship.

Refugee Center Needs Career Mentors
Immediate Need for a Mentor with an Insurance Background.
Josh McManness announced the Refugee Center's new Volunteer Career Pathway Mentoring Project. They are looking for volunteers to meet one-on-one with a participant that needs to improve their skills so they can fit into the workplace in a field related to their profession. This includes language skills, licensing, and an orientation to career positions and training available in their profession. The key to this program is to relate to the needs of the participant.

Power Packs Needs Volunteers
Power Packs is a great program in many local school districts that provides a recipe with ingredients for a meal, as well as some staples like cereal, fruits and milk to help support students over weekends. Years ago our club helped financially to get this program up and running. Since then we have been providing volunteers, special request items like crock pots and occasionally funding gifts.
This school year, weekly on Wednesdays we will serve as we pick up prepackaged boxes (the packs) for over 60 families and deliver them to Washington Elementary and Reynolds Middle School. We are looking for volunteers for this school year. It takes about an hour on Wednesdays, but does not overlap our Rotary meeting. Large vehicles like trucks, vans and SUVs are great, but we split some loads so smaller cars can help as well. We ask for availability and provide a schedule. You do not need to be available every or even most weeks to be an important part of this service. If you would like to learn more, please let the coordinating volunteers, Clint Krushinsky or Amy Lewis, know.

Joy: Ed Hauck reported that Ali Husaini, a senior from F&M College has been awarded a Global Grant from the District 7390 scholarship committeee to attend Newcastle University in the UK for the 2023/24 year as a grad student.
