Today, we are asking for your support of the Rotary International Foundation. The Foundation was founded in 1917 for the purpose of “doing good” in the world. As you read this letter “good” is being done, somewhere in the world, by Rotarians.
When we look around the world today, we can look with pride at the participation of Lancaster Rotarians in the many activities of the Rotary Foundation and their deep relevance to addressing the problems in the world today.
With over 100 years of service above self, let’s take time to celebrate the contributions of time, talent and treasure made by Lancaster Rotarians to the many educational and humanitarian programs of the Rotary International Foundation by making the most generous gift possible in support of the annual programs fund.
In 1917 Arch Klumph, sixth president of Rotary International, said “No one can tell what Rotary will be tomorrow, but one thing is certain: what Rotary will be tomorrow depends on what we Rotarians do today.” Remembering these words, we are asking every Lancaster Rotarian to dig deep and make a gift that makes a difference.

Foundation Giving2.0 - Rotary Gifts Do Make a Difference
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and Rotarians’ demand for immediate projects to support their communities, significantly more global grants than during previous years were approved this year. The pandemic in addition to normal requests for grant funding exhausted World Fund availability for matching global grant awards for the remainder of this Rotary year. In a way, the good news is that through our continuing contributions to the Foundation, Rotary had the capacity to step up and help just at a time when the citizens of Earth need the help most.
As Rotarians aid recovery, now more than ever, giving to Rotary’s Annual Fund is key to continuing these Covid-19 projects. We also have the ongoing need to fund projects that help improve life worldwide with clean water, other health concerns, educational improvements all to promote world peace.
The Rotary Foundation’s year-end is quickly approaching on June 30th 2020.
While many of our donors give each year by check, given the circumstances due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation’s mail and gift processing has been delayed. With this in mind, donors are strongly encouraged to contribute online at www.rotary.org/donate. Each Rotarian has an account with Rotary and you can use your name and account number to access your own account online.

We have such a wonderful neighborhood and now that we are all home, we have become very close. I made whoopie pies for the neighborhood several weeks ago, the adults loved them more than the children. We take turns with having social distancing happy hour. One more happy note, my new neighbor who moved into Patti and Ted’s house, is a liquor salesman (isn’t that the luckiest thing in the world). He always has good vodka. In the afternoons, Fred and I sit outside and the neighbors drop by and we talk and it has become a perfect fellowship time for all of us. It has slowed us all down a bit and we are happy about it. Maybe, we were to have learned some lessons from this quarantine time…
