“Seventh Annual Rotary-McCaskey Mentoring Program Commencement Ceremony”
Following our weekly club announcements, we will be conferring “diplomas” on the McCaskey High School seniors who are graduating from the Rotary-McCaskey Mentoring Program. Also, in attendance will be our McCaskey juniors who participated in our Mentoring Program this year. Some of our students’ parents may also be in attendance.
A couple of our mentors and student mentees will speak briefly about their experiences with the Program. The event will be opened by the McCaskey High School Color Guard and we will have musical accompaniment by the McCaskey High School Sax Quartet.
The students are very excited about coming to our club for this event. Please welcome the students and their parents at your table and try to get to know them. Looking forward to a fun day!!

Rotary Youth Exchange - Looking for Host Families!
The Club is hosting a student for the 2019-20 school year; he is an outstanding 15-year-old young man from Mexico who will arrive in August and return home the following June.
This young man enjoys movies, video games, music, skateboarding, soccer, volleyball, tennis, Taekwondo, robotics and computers. He would also like to explore acting. He lives with his parents and older brother. He has studied English for 11 years and considers himself fairly fluent in English. He has no health concerns.
We MUST find three host families for this young man; each family will host for about three and a half months. He will attend McCaskey High School. If you or anyone you know outside of Rotary is interested in this extremely rewarding experience or would like more info, please contact the committee chairs, Lisa Lewis (daytonduo@aol.com) or Jenn DeWalt (jdewalt@murrayins.com).

Rotary Foundation
My commitment to Rotary Foundation was inspired by many Rotarians, but two stand out as they educated and indoctrinated me with why Rotary Foundation works; to make the world a better place.
Bob Montgomery was a pioneer in the push for Polio Plus as he and his team inspired a ground swell of giving in this Club. And, Bob was always there to support the Rotary Foundation committee campaigning in the latter years.
Ron Hill was also a dedicated and vocal supporter of Rotary Foundation. Not only did he encourage financial commitment from our Club, he helped make sure the funds were well used via his numerous trips to the developing world where Rotary exercised "Service above Self".
Our Rotary Foundation contributions are invested and multiplied before they are distributed to assist those less fortunate than ourselves. Furthermore, if Bill and Melinda Gates and Warren Buffet, via the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, trust Rotary International to effectively utilize both their funds along with Rotary Foundation funds, well then, I do too.

The Rotaract Club of Lancaster welcomes Members of the
AFH’S Access Connect Empower Mentoring Program
The Rotaract Club of Lancaster met with students that are part of AFH’s Access Connect Empower (ACE) Mentoring program. The ACE Mentoring Program works with high school and college students of refugee and immigrant families in Lancaster, PA to support them in achieving their vision of success after they complete high school. The program links these students with college student coaches and with expertise in the community in order to provide ongoing training and support in academic, leadership and life skills.
Rotaract is an organization of young adults (between the age of 18 and 30) of different professional and educational backgrounds that is defined neither by religious nor political motives. Rotaract is one of the largest youth organizations in the world with around 175000 members in about 7500 clubs in 156 countries of the world. The Rotaract Club of Lancaster meets at F & M College in Lancaster, PA. They are Sponsored by The Rotary Clubs of Lancaster Sunrise and The Rotary Club of Lancaster.

Rotary Rendezvous
PP Tom Baum reminded members of tonight's Rotary Rendezvous at Stoner Grille. Arrive between 5 and 5:30pm, and enjoy a presentation with Caroline Muraro , President of LNP Group. She will discuss changes in their business related to digital technology, and entertain questions. Members and guests may stay for dinner following the presentation, at 6:30pm.
May 1- Rotary Rendezvous will feature Dr. Chris Hager of Novara Health Concierge Medicine
May 22- Scott Little, City of Lancaster Fire Chief, will join the Rotary Rendezvous
The last Rendezvous in June will feature the High Center for Family Business, with Mike Mitchell and Tad Renner
Rotary Global Study Scholarship
Ed Hauck, on behalf of the Rotary Foundation, introduced a special guest joining the meeting today. Usera Chabani from the Netherlands is the most recent District awardee of the Global Study Scholarship program. She is studying politics and Arabic at F&M, and was nominated by this club to study abroad for the 2019-2020 school year. Usera will continue her study at the University of Cambridge.
Ed encouraged members to nominate candidates for this scholarship designed to support a one year graduate study abroad opportunity. It must align with one of the areas of the Foundation's areas of focus. Paul Volcker, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve is a distinguished alumni of the Global Grants Scholarship program, as is Ed Hauck, who studied in then West Germany in 1975-76.

Sue Suter is happy for a seamless move for the United Way after 58 years on Janet Ave. United Way is now located at 1910 Harrington Drive.
