Community Awards / Teacher Impact
Five area teachers will be recognized by WGAL 8 and Rotary Club District 7390 with Teacher Impact Awards. The Teacher Impact Awards seek to recognize teachers, currently teaching in grades Pre-K through 12, who have made a significant difference in the lives of their students. While students are strongly encouraged to nominate a teacher, anyone, including parents, administrators or other co-workers may also nominate a deserving teacher.
The teachers are Brian Hastings of Spring Grove Area High School, R. Alden Knepp of Susquenita Middle School, Martha Rougeux of Rowland School, Trudy Saraiva of Eagle View Middle School and Alicia Sterner of Elizabethtown School District.
The teachers were honored at a banquet on May 11 at the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey Hotel. Each teacher was profiled in vignettes during consecutive "News 8 at 5" newscasts.
