The Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls had a busy week.  In their continuing efforts to support education in the community, they held their monthly “Student of the Month” luncheon on Thursday, October 15,.  Honored this month were Emily Bender (Ketcham HS), Nicholas Simonetty (Wappingers Jr. High), and Gabriella Barger (St. Mary’s School), pictured l to r, along with Rotarians Wendy McNamara and Thom Piliouras.  The students were honored along with their families and the teachers who nominated them.

The following day, October 16, was the birthday of Noah Webster, whose name has become synonymous with "dictionary" in the United States.  The club distributed over 300 dictionaries to the third grade students at Evans, Myers Corners, Sheafe Road and St. Mary's Schools. Pictured distributing the dictionaries at St. Mary's School are (seated, l to r) Rosario Rivera, Bob Sugg and Christine Krumm, who are residents of Elant at Wappingers. The Elderact Club at Elant continue to give service to the community; they placed name stickers on the dictionaries and contributed towards their purchase. Also pictured (standing, rear, l to r) are Rotarians Bill Halvey, Deborah Magdalene, Stanley Straub and Thom Piliouras, as well as some of the 3rd grade students from St. Mary’s School.
