Suffern, NY, January 21, 2013: At the crossroads of Washington and Orange Avenues, visitors and residents alike have been enjoying up-to-date Village of Suffern announcements courtesy of the Suffern Rotary Club.  A new message board, donated and installed by the Suffern Rotary Club last January, was formally dedicated on Image Thursday, January 3rd.  The public ceremony took place at 11:30AM and included Rotarians, Village of Suffern officials, and community friends.

The installation was a joint venture between Suffern’s Department of Public Works (DPW) and fifteen Rotarians in 2012.  The $5,000 bulletin board, which is illuminated, had to be delivered by a DPW front loader before being placed on the posts.  Esthetic enhancements were also made at Point Park and electrical connections completed, so the sign is readable 24/7.   “We are pleased to bring this gift to the Village of Suffern and appreciate the level of cooperation we’ve experienced from them to satisfy installation,” says Grover Foster, Suffern Rotary Club president.  “This project has been three years in the making and we are proud to see the information sign dedicated.”

Founded in 1927, the Suffern Rotary Club has a long history of supporting the community with good works and fundraising.  Their intention is “Service Above Self” with a focus on local small business, education and fellow nonprofits, while still giving generously of their time and finances to back international initiatives.  The club meets every Thursday at 12:15PM at Marcello’s.
