Many hands & "trash grabbers" made light work! And a sparkling Route 202 from Colline Drive to Viola Road!
Thank you to those that joined your Suffern Rotarians at the Ramapo Senior Center at the corner of Mayer Drive and Route 202 at 9 am Saturday morning May 11th to help gather the trash along Route 202. The Scout Troop 23, Palisades Credit Union Bank staff, Good Samaritan Hospital staff, The Salvation Army College for Officer Training staff & family members, Sloatsburg Food Pantry staff members as well as other community members & club family members stepped in to help with the project. There were 41 adults, 4 teens, 13 children who signed up on the KeepRocklandBeautiful webpage. There were also a few people that dropped by to pitch in a hand because they saw the signs for the clean up along Route 202.
Sixty-eight bags of trash were collected. There were two car tires and 3 damaged road cones collected as well.
The "Cooling Tent" set up provided shade, chairs, beverages & snacks for those that served with us.
This is a very special project for the Rotary Route 202 Committee chairman, Curtis Jewell. About a year ago the Rotary Club was doing their spring Route 202 Clean-Up and Curtis stopped to thank a few club members for making his drive home along 202 more pleasant. From that discussion, Curtis became a member of Suffern Rotary and took on leading the project. Kudos to Curtis for bringing together so many community members to keep our section of Rockland beautiful!
