The Tuxedo Interact Club is rolling into their first year with zest!

The Tuxedo Interact Club, co-sponsored with the Ramapo Valley & Suffern Rotary Clubs is supervised by teachers Tom Reilly and Courtney Elmendorf. This club was founded in July 2022. Suffern Rotary Club and co-sponsor the Tuxedo Interact Club.
This Interact  Club just half-way through the school year and they have been quite active with environmental clean-ups, writing thank you notes to veterans, toy drives, and lending a hand helping other clubs with their events. Recently they invited fellow Rotarian, Colonel (Ret.) Christopher Holshek to speak to the George F. Baker faculty via Zoom. He discussed partnering with the Orange County Youth Bureau and Mr. Holshek's organization named the National Service Ride project to mobilize youth to better themselves, their community, and their country through service-learning. The picture shows three of our HS interact officers introducing Mr. Holshek. Later this Spring Mr. Holshek will present a service-learning seminar to the HS students, sponsor a school volunteer fair, and provide a virtual volunteer portal for students to log individual volunteer hours. Mr. Holshek's Flyer attached.
Tuxedo's HS 'Snow Ball' themed dance at Character's Restaurant Friday January 27th was co-hosted by the Interact Club, National Honor Society and Student Council. Each student/guest was required to bring three non-perishable food items which will be donated to the Sloatsburg Food Pantry. The food donation was a great success.

The Tuxedo Board of Education has recently approved the Middle School Interact club for grades 6-8, led by Tuxedo teacher, Courtney Elmendorf. In response to parent and student requests for additional middle school clubs and activities, Ms. Elmendorf intends to start a school store with the interactors. Middle Schoolers will learn how to work and run the school store and gain some perspective on how local businesses run.  NJHS and NHS will oversee financial aspects of the stores and help guide the middle school students, when needed.
