Dominic Cancilla
This week we welcome along with Mary Lawlor, Dominic Cancilla.
Dominic brought five decades of wildlife rehabilitation experience to the Hudson Valley when he relocated here from Atlanta in 2023. He began rehabbing at the age of twelve and, fifty years later, hasn't stopped. A New York State licensed Class I wildlife rehabilitator with certifications in primary care and capture-and-transport, he specializes in birds of prey, songbirds, and squirrels, and has raised and released hundreds of animals over his career. Today, he serves as lead volunteer and program animal trainer at Ravensbeard Wildlife Center in Saugerties. He joins us to talk about the state of wildlife in the Hudson Valley, what to do when you find a baby or injured animal, and the small changes any of us can make to keep wild animals out of trouble in the first place.

The Good We Do Starts With YOU!
The easiest way to support The Rotary Foundationis to donate online using Rotary Direct's recurring donation, summarized as follows:
Click on Donate in the upper right of the website (or go directly to my.rotary.org/donateand sign in as a member).
Choose "Annual Fund- SHARE" (this is the fund that provides funding for our Club's projects).
Select "Recurring" donation type, as this will allow you to set up a donation once that then will automatically repeat at a frequency and amount of your choosing.
Select "Annually" for the frequency, which has a minimum amount of $100, but you can choose other amounts. In doing so at this time of year it will set your annual donations to occur during the first week of July, therefore automatically qualifying you as both an "Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) Member" and a "Sustaining Member" at the very start of every Rotary year (which begins on July 1). You will then be able to opt out of the optional TRF donation request that comes with our Club's dues invoices in July and January.
Since you signed in as a member, the system should automatically complete your Personal Information and Billing Address.
You then complete the Payment Details, review and submit your donation. Make note of your confirmation number.
Online donations will result in an automated confirmation email soon after submitting your donation.

Project RESTORE Hudson Valley environmental Global Grant project begins in July!
Grow your knowledge, skills and leadership to help our community respond to the climate crisis and build community resilience!
The RESTORE Leadership Academy is a free two-day immersion program for anyone wanting to take more informed action and leadership on climate change. Hosted by Sustainable Hudson Valley staff and brought to you by Rotary, the program consists of six 90-minute sessions over two Saturdays, culminating in a hands-on project at each of four currently planned locations (other locations coming in Fall 2026).
The monthly Parkinson’s Support Group is a gathering place for those with Parkinson’s and their loved ones to create community and share information. The group will meet each month to offer a space for everyone to discuss their challenges and successes, share stories, connect with others who are navigating similar issues, and sift through medical information and the latest news about available treatments. Refreshments and resources provided. Registration is not required.
