This week's speakers:

Jen Adams & Garrett Chisholm

Jen is Senior Conservation Biologist & Director of Parks and Ecological Preserves. Jen oversees all land management activities on Winnakee preserves. Her goal is to actively manage forests and wetlands in the Hudson Valley to protect and restore species’ habitat, forest resiliency, and mitigate harmful effects of climate change. In her role, Jen enjoys connecting the community to nature in their own backyard through volunteer opportunities and educational programs. She is an active member of the Saw Kill Watershed Community (SKWC) group and participates in the Lower Hudson Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (LHPRISM). Jen received a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Elon University and a Masters of Natural Resources from Oregon State University. She also holds a NYS Pesticide Applicator License and ISA Arborist Certification.

Garrett joined Winnakee as the Land Programs Manager in 2025, where he supports and delivers core initiatives across the Land Conservation and Land Activation departments. His interests lie within the protection and promotion of natural areas so their ecosystem services may be sustained and enjoyed well into the future. He obtained his B.S in Environmental Studies with a focus in Conservation and Stewardship from the University of Vermont and his M.S. in Natural Resources Conservation with a focus in Forest Resource Management from Paul Smith’s College. Garrett previously held the position of Stewardship Coordinator at the Huyck Preserve for six years

The Good We Do Starts With YOU!

The easiest way to support The Rotary Foundation is to donate online using Rotary Direct's recurring donation, summarized as follows:
  • Sign in to MyRotary.org as a Rotary member
  • Click on Donate in the upper right of the website (or go directly to my.rotary.org/donate and sign in as a member).
  • Choose "Annual Fund- SHARE" (this is the fund that provides funding for our Club's projects).
  • Select "Recurring" donation type, as this will allow you to set up a donation once that then will automatically repeat at a frequency and amount of your choosing.
  • Select "Annually" for the frequency, which has a minimum amount of $100, but you can choose other amounts.  In doing so at this time of year it will set your annual donations to occur during the first week of July, therefore automatically qualifying you as both an "Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) Member" and a "Sustaining Member" at the very start of every Rotary year (which begins on July 1).  You will then be able to opt out of the optional TRF donation request that comes with our Club's dues invoices in July and January.
  • Since you signed in as a member, the system should automatically complete your Personal Information and Billing Address.
  • You then complete the Payment Details, review and submit your donation.  Make note of your confirmation number.
  • Online donations will result in an automated confirmation email soon after submitting your donation.
  • Thank YOU, you're now Doing Good in the World automatically!

WELCOME OUR NEWEST
LITTLE ROTARIAN!
From Gary and Brenda Bassett
On Tuesday, July 13, our family was blessed with a wonderful new addition. Our daughter, Rachel and her husband, Justin, welcomed their first child, and our very first grandson, Samson Thomas Oxendine, into the world. He arrived at 7:28 PM, healthy and strong, weighing 7 pounds and measuring 19 inches long
From the moment he was born, Samson captured everyone's hearts. He came into the world with a full head of hair and an adorable smile that has already brought tremendous joy to our family. His arrival marks a special milestone as we begin a new chapter as grandparents and watch the next generation grow.

Most importantly, both mother and baby are doing well. Rachel recovered successfully from the delivery, and the family is enjoying these precious first moments together. Everyone is healthy, happy, and excited to bring Samson home and begin making memories with him.

This is a time of great celebration and gratitude for our family. We are thrilled to welcome Samson Thomas Oxendine and look forward to watching him grow, learn, and experience all the adventures that life has in store
