This month, we welcome Darlene Pedrosa as Rhinebeck Rotary's Treasurer.
Darlene is a Certified Financial Planner who brings financial expertise and a deep committment to our community. As she takes the reins as Treasurer, we look forward to her guidance in helping ensure the continued financial strength of our club in order to support our Club's mission. We are excited to have her as part of our leadership team!
This week's speaker:
Adeline Malone
Adeline Malone will be speaking on the topic of Wills vs. Trusts
Attorney with Offices in Red Hook, previously located in Rhinebeck
Solo practitioner with experience in corporate, tax, real estate, and trusts and estates work
Topics will include:
1. Discuss the difference between a will and a trust and the advantages/disadvantages of each. A brief explanation of the probate process.
2. Reasons to consider a trust or not.
3. Explain the difference between a revocable and an irrevocable trust and the reasons to choose one over the other. How Medicaid planning affects this choice. Disadvantages of the irrevocable trust.
4. If choosing a trust, assets will have to be transferred to the trust. How to do that.
5. Mention the importance of Powers of Attorney and Living Wills and Health Care proxies.
6. Mention the typical legal fees and other costs associated with wills/trusts and transfers to trusts.

Project RESTORE Hudson Valley environmental Global Grant project begins in July!
Grow your knowledge, skills and leadership to help our community respond to the climate crisis and build community resilience!
The RESTORE Leadership Academy is a free two-day immersion program for anyone wanting to take more informed action and leadership on climate change. Hosted by Sustainable Hudson Valley staff and brought to you by Rotary, the program consists of six 90-minute sessions over two Saturdays, culminating in a hands-on project at each of four currently planned locations (other locations coming in Fall 2026).

We are a small, group of seniors and family caregivers who like to socialize, laugh, and have fun.
Our events are all local and free —and planned around the interests of the participants.

The monthly Parkinson’s Support Group is a gathering place for those with Parkinson’s and their loved ones to create community and share information. The group will meet each month to offer a space for everyone to discuss their challenges and successes, share stories, connect with others who are navigating similar issues, and sift through medical information and the latest news about available treatments. Refreshments and resources provided. Registration is not required.
