On Monday, November 28, the Rhinebeck Rotary Club was pleased to host Linda Cotter-Forbes, Rhinebeck Resident, who spoke about the Heart Safe Club of Rhinebeck (heartsafeclub.org). Her daughter Kaitlin’s life was saved by those who responded to Kaitlin’s Sudden Cardiac Arrest by administering CPR and using an AED ,thus the inspiration for Linda’s passionate work for Heart Safe Club.

The mission of Heart Safe is to provide low-cost community CPR/AED instruction and promote awareness of CPR and AED use, to advocate and lobby for heart health at the local and state levels, promote community heart screening events and raise funds to support the club and its activities.

This past summer, due to the generosity of Rhinebeck Rotary Club, an AED that had been placed at the Beekman Arms in Rhinebeck was used to save a life. There are many other stories of success that illustrate the importance of this group’s work.
