Chief Bethencourt Leads Safe Summer Initiative
Chief Bethencourt's experience on the Village of Ellenville police force helped shape his philosophy on policing in the City of Middletown. He believes in communication and bridging the gap between the police force and the residents and business men and women they serve.
The City's Summer Safe Initiative will address these concerns. It's a two-pronged approach. First, community meetings are scheduled in each Ward on Thursday evenings. City officials and police listen to residents' concerns. Second, on the following weekend, Middletown Police and the Orange County Sheriff's team and/or NYS Police address these quality of life concerns.
Chief Bethencourt has also established a schedule for his officers to work in each ward for one month at a time and get to know the neighborhoods and some of the residents.
It's all about communication!
