On June 21, representatives from 21 community organizations attended a meeting of the Rotary Club of Carmel at George’s Restaurant.  Each group was given a check to support their work in the greater Carmel area.

The total of $12,500 that was distributed was a result of the proceeds of the Rotary Community Basketball Shootout.  Under the direction of Al Lotrecchiano and Chairman Sal Gambino, the Shootout Fundraiser has helped community and school organizations raise more than $300,000 in the past ten years.

Recipients of the donations this year included Arts on the Lake, Carmel/Brewster Garden Club, Camp Herrlich, Clearpool, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Kent Cadets, Kent Historical Society, Kent Library, My Brother Vinny, COVE Care, NAMI, Putnam Hospital Foundation, Putnam Humane Society, Reed Library, Putnam Youth Bureau, Putnam Treatment Court, Heart in Haiti School and four local food banks (CAP, St. John’s, St. Andrew’s and Gilead Presbyterian).

Carmel Rotary would like to thank all of the Basketball Shootout sponsors and participants who made this event possible.
