Peoria North Rotary Club member Ken Parsons was presented with a 5-time Paul Harris Fellowship Pin on Oct. 4. District Governor Nancy Van Pelt announced the honor and presented the pin to Ken during her official club visit.

The Paul Harris Fellow is the highest honor bestowed upon a Rotarian, and reflects a longtime commitment to supporting the Rotary Foundation. It is named after Paul Harris, founder of Rotary.

“Rotating” between member’s offices is actually how the name Rotary was established. On Feb. 23, 1905, Paul Harris and three friends gathered for what would become known as the first Rotary club meeting.

Mr. Harris’s desire for camaraderie among business associates grew into an international network of 1.2 million volunteers who work to improve health, alleviate poverty, and promote peace.
