A Life After Polio

Carol Boigon contracted polio when she was just 5 years old and spent much of her childhood at the Children's Hospital in Detroit. She is one tough lady and would not let polio determine her future.  She graduated from the University of Michigan, married, moved to Denver,  completed graduate work at the University of Colorado. She has worked as a teacher, a newspaper reporter, staff to a Colorado Governor and a Denver Mayor, staff to the Colorado Democratic Party, served on a successful US Senate campaign and other federal, state and local campaigns. She was elected to Denver City Council, served two terms, then ran for Mayor of Denver. She has helped our Rotary district leaders involved in immunization campaigns and literacy conference planning. This marks the first time Carol has ever spoken to a group about her challenges in being a polio survivor.
