Steve Turner, AIA, Executive Director

Mr. Turner has worked with History Colorado since 2008. During that time he led the State Historical Fund and the Office of Archeology and Historic Preservation. He helped administer more than $91 million in preservation grants over his tenure. He also helped lead the effort to expand the state’s preservation tax credit, which has been instrumental in preserving historic assets across the state. Steve’s professional experience spans several decades and his work includes local, national, and international projects. After earning dual master’s degrees in urban and regional planning and architecture from the University of Illinois, he has worked as a preservation planner for both the United States / International Council on Monuments and Sites and the United States Army Corps of Engineers Construction Engineering Research Laboratory. His other professional experience includes working as a historic architect for the National Parks Service and as the executive director of Historic Denver Inc.
