This week we had the special honour of recognizing the winners in our Canada Day Essay Contest.  The essay theme was “What it means to me to be a Canadian.” 120 entries were submitted from 6 schools and this year’s 4 winners all came from the Grades 4-6 category.  Pictured cutting the special Canada Day cake prepared by the staff of the Peterborough Golf and Country Club are, left to right, Claire Corcoran of St. Theresa’s, Eric Dreslinksi, who read the winning essay of his son Simon of Orono Public School who was in Ottawa on a field trip, Lily Bowman of St. John Elementary and Dash Atayan from St. Theresa’s.  Also in attendance to bring their Canada Day greetings were local politicians from the City, County, Provincial, and Federal levels of government.
