Remembrance Day Meeting, Nov. 8, 2010
Posted by Ray Saitz
This week we held our observation of Remembrance Day. Dan Robertson was a Grade 7 James Strath student in July when he won the Rotary Essay contest and his essay on why "I am Proud to be a Canadian" seemed so appropriate for Remembrance Day that he read it at this ceremony. He is pictured accepting his $100. prize from Bob Phillips, Chairman of the Rotary Remembrance Day Committee. Dave Edgerton, former President of Legion Branch 52 and Wall of Honour founder, gave a talk about the necessity of preserving war memorabilia. Another highlight of the meeting was when Dr. Gary Humphries won over $3200 in the Queen of Hearts draw and donated it to the Rotary Foundation.
