The Rotary Club of Chicago -O'Hare

meets weekly at 12:00 noon

The Great Escape in Schiller Park IL

*****On Thursday, June 28, 2018, the Rotary Club of Chicago O'Hare will encourage all of you to attend the lunch at noon at the Great Escape as we install our new President Mike Sullivan and his Club Board for 2018-2019. We want to show Mike our support and welcome our new Club year. We wish Mike a very successful year and thank him for his extra efforts this year to fill in for Cruz. Thank you, Cruz, for being our energetic, enthused President for 2017-2018 helping revise and develop our Constitution and ByLaws. We have definitely missed you and wish you continued success in your new job!! We hope to see you all of you then for our special Installation lunch!

*****Another great Jack Frawley Memorial Rotary Club of Chicago O'Hare Foundation Golf Outing took place Thursday, June 7 at the Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington. All proceeds from this major fundraiser will support our scholarship program for Leyden High Schools and the O'Hare community. A very special “thank you” to Mike Plichta, chairman of the event, for organizing an amazing event. “Thanks” also to Mindy McGuffin, chairman of the raffle and silent auction – who could not attend because of conflicting work demands, but whose work made the raffle and silent auction a success. We appreciate the extra efforts of John Sisco, Jack Ranttila, Dave Woodcock, Rob Hann, John Kearns, Larisa Suceska, Iwona Niedzielak, Pat Ranttila, Glenn Spachman and Mike Sullivan to carry out many varied tasks that produced the event all participants could enjoy. We thank all members that attended, donated items for the silent auction/raffle and worked selling or setting up last Thursday. It was a success, because of you!!

*****Rotary International is requesting that we keep track of our Rotary Volunteer Hours for 2017-2018. Cruz Bernal-Albano, our President, has requested that we keep track of our “volunteer hours”. Each week you can just jot down your information on our attendance sheet or keep track of those hours to report in a couple of weeks. Collectively we will have an amazing number!! Thanks.

*****Our Rotary Club has donated 500 blankets, slippers, pillows with cases, First Aid Kits, pajamas, I-Pad covers and full amenity kits to the Jesse White Trunk Party. This is a traditional where supportive families and friends fill a trunk for a college-bound student with all of the essentials for a successful college experience. In this case, the larger community will show our support to 500 disadvantaged kids at the Trunk Party on (prep) Saturday, July 14th and (distribution) Sunday, July 15th. We need your help to make this happen – Saturday from 8:30 – 3:30 and Sunday 7:30 – 3:30 at the Jesse White Community Center on 412 West Chicago in downtown Chicago. Any questions? Pat Ranttila patranttila@gmail.com or 847-648-1177. We need your help!

*****Diane Carroll from My Joyful Heart will speak to our Club on Thursday, July 19th. She will give us an update on their amazing program with 760 children enrolled this year. Our Club sponsors two children for this opportunity of several gift bags per year to help them be ready for school, get a birthday gift and have lots of the basics. Her summer visit will include “A Back to School” Drive to help her amass the supplies she will be distributing. Check the list below – bring all items to the meeting on July 19th or before. Thanks for making a difference!!
