*****OnThursday, January 26, 2019 theRotary  Club of Chicago O'Hare will welcomeRona Raffey with her yearly update on the latest happenings at YMCA Camp Duncan.  Rona has been Camp Director of the YMCA Camp Duncan for over 25 years.  This Camp's attendees include those afflicted with Tourette Syndrome, burn survivors, diabetes and mainstream campers.  Please join us for lunch at The Great Escape and a heartwarming talk about camp, kids, and making sweet summer memories!   

 

****You are invited to attend an evening you will not soon forget!!TheLeydenInspirational Eagle Award Dinner and Ceremonysponsored by theRotary Club of Chicago O'Hare will be held at West Leyden High Schoolon Tuesday, March 12, 2018 at 6:00 PM.  Students from Leyden High Schools have been nominated, their families invited, and a school mentor has been chosen to speak about the student's growth and success though unimaginable challenges. We thankFrank Holthousewho has been working this year to make this an evening to remember for not only the students and parents, but also for our club.

*****We need your help to plan and carry-out our Club sponsored Open House at My Joyful Heartat their warehouse in Mokena(address below) from 9:00 to 12:00 on Saturday, March 16^th.  We will need your help to lead tours for this Open House for District 6450 Rotary Clubs and other agencies that would consider donating and would benefit from knowing about MJH's missions and operation.  If you can help, please let Pat Ranttila know. 847-648-1177 or patranttila@gmail.com

 

*****You are invited!!!  The Rotary 6450 Coalition of Chicago Rotary Clubs(which includes O’Hare Club plus eight other Clubs) will be hosting a fundraiser and social outing at the Columbia Yacht Club, 111 North Lakeshore Drive, on Friday, March 15^thfrom 5:30 PM.  The ticket prices are $40 Early Bird and $50 after March 4^th. The funds collected will go to support a Reverse Global Grant in Chicago “Young Artists to Peace Building.  Ticket website available soon.

 

*****Rotary International is requesting that we keep track of our Rotary Volunteer Hours for 2018-2019.Each week you can just jot down your information on our attendance sheet or keep track of those hours to report in a couple of weeks.  Hours that can count are for participation in Rotary projects or preparation for a Club activity or project.  Attendance at our meetings, driving to meetings or serving on a Board do notcount.  Collectively we will have an amazing number!!   Thanks.

 

*****It's time to begin our favorite job in Rotary!! Each year our Club extends college  scholarshipsto six worthy students at East and West Leyden and the O'Hare family.  Our main fundraiser The Jack Frawley Memorial Rotary Golf Outingin June (more info below) is to amass the funds to continue this amazing support for students.  Criteria for receiving a scholarship are strong grades & SAT scores, service to community & school through activities and clubs, family need, and future goals and plans.  We thank Chuck Henschel,Chair of Scholarship Committee, for organizing the entire process.
