On Thursday, July 27, 2017, the Rotary Club of Chicago O'Hare will enjoy an update from CEO Diane Carroll about My Joyful Heart and their mission to provide, for over 700 disadvantaged children in several CPS schools, gift events for each sponsored child including Valentine’s Day, Easter, Summer Vacation, Back-to-School, Fall, Christmas and Birthday. Our Rotary Club and several of our members sponsor a child in this program for $420 annually. Please bring any school supplies and brown grocery bags to our “Back to School” Supply Drive this Thursday for My Joyful Heart. Thank you to all members and Ed Jacob, organizer, who participated in the large order of school supplies. Join us for lunch on Thursday at noon at the Great Escape!

The Jesse White Trunk Party was a great success completing 700 stuffed duffle bags for disadvantaged college bound students from 196 high schools in the Chicagoland area. Fred Otto, John Kearns, Kay Whitlock, Sylvia Jewgieniew, Pat and Jack Ranttila worked this past week-end filling the bags with items from our Airline Surplus Project plus other donated items. Seven Rotary Clubs from our newly formed Chicago Rotary Consortium participated: Lakeview, Financial, Near South, Rotary One, Southeast, Northwest, and O'Hare. Thank you for helping make this a success!

Rotary Family Fun Night will be held this year on Tuesday, August 1^st at 7:10 PM at Guaranteed Rate Field at the Blue Jays vs Sox game. The game offers a night where Rotarians and Veterans are recognized and honored. So it is now time to buy:

Important Club and Foundation Board information:

• Club Board will meet at 11:00 AM on the third Thursday of each month except Thursday, July 27^th and Thursday, August 31^st. District 6450 Governor 2017-2018 Scott McAdam will visit our Board Meeting and speak to our Club on Thursday, August 31^st.

• Foundation Board will meet next on Thursday, August 3^rd.

Rotary International is requesting that we keep track of our Rotary Volunteer Hours for 2017-2018. Cruz Bernal-Albano, our President, has designed a new roster that we are going to implement starting Thursday that will include “volunteer hours”. Each week you can just jot down your information – including attending our meeting for 2 hours (travel, lunch, speaker) I would guess that collectively we will have an amazing number!! Thanks.
