On Thursday, July 6, 2017, the Rotary Club of Chicago O'Hare will welcome Judy Meikle speaking about “ORGAN DONATION SAVES LIVES.” She will share her personal story of receiving the gift of a heart, transplanted from an Army Ranger who died after fighting to save his comrades in Afghanistan in July, 2009. Judy has made it her mission to spread the word about the importance of organ donation. Please come to our Rotary lunch and the opportunity to hear this inspirational story. See you at The Great Escape at 12:00 noon on Thursday.
Our Club was well-represented at the District 6450 District Governor Scott McAdam Installation at Monte Bello Estate in Lemont IL on Sunday evening. Thanks for representing our Club – Dave and Marisela Woodcock, John and Juliana Kearns, Pat and Jack Ranttila, and Sylvia Jewgieniew. Our keynote speaker Ian Riseley will be our new International President from Melbourne, Australia. His two new initiatives for 2017-2018 are the tracking our time & funds used for Rotary and to plant a tree in honor of each of our members. Each of the guests received a sapling to begin the process!

Club Board will meet at 11:00 AM on the third Thursday of each month except Thursday, August 31st. District 6450 Governor 2017-2018 Scott McAdam will visit our Board Meeting and speak to our Club on Thursday, August 31st.

Foundation Board will meet next on Thursday, August 3rd.
Rotary International is requesting that we keep track of our Rotary Volunteer Hours for 2017-2018. Cruz Bernal-Albano, our President, has designed a new roster that we are going to implement starting Thursday that will include “volunteer hours”. Each week you can just jot down your information – including attending our meeting for 2 hours (travel, lunch, speaker) I would guess that collectively we will have an amazing number!! Thanks.

My Joyful Heart provides, for over 700 disadvantaged children in several CPS schools, gift events for each sponsored child including Valentine’s Day, Easter, Summer Vacation, Back-to-School, Fall, Christmas and Birthday. Our Rotary Club and several of our members sponsor a child in this program for $420 annually. Diane Carroll, the Executive Director of My Joyful Heart will be at our July 27th Rotary meeting. Annually our Club participates in a “Back To School” Drive at the Club meeting she attends. Listed below are the items they distribute and are in need. No regular pencils or pens needed at this time.
