*****On Thursday, October 25, 2018, the Rotary Club of Chicago O'Hare will welcome Walter J Johnson, the Executive Director of Project CURE Chicago. Project C.U.R.E. is the largest provider of donated medical supplies and equipment to developing countries around the world. Project C.U.R.E. is the recipient of the GuideStar Exchange Platinum Seal, the Charity Navigator Four-Star Rating and ranked by Forbes as one of the 20 Most Efficient Large U.S. Charities. Many Rotary District 6450 Global Grants have partnered with Project CURE. We want you to come to hear about this amazing organization and to enjoy a lunch with friends!!

*****Thank you for supporting the “Make a Difference Day” for the Leyden High Schools on last Saturday at West Leyden High School. Our donations to Leyden were the materials from our Airline Surplus Project from which Interact students packed 1000 Amenity Kits for the homeless veterans to pick up at the Hines VA Hospital Veteran StandDown in Humboldt Park in November. Rotarians Frank Holthouse, Mike Sullivan, Jack Ranttila, and Larry Fritz had the opportunity to work with both Interact Clubs and with Eldon Tracy with “Feeding Children WorldWide.” Thank you for making a difference!!

*****At our last meeting we were pleased to honor our friends Joe Dote and John Sisco, both past members of our Club, with Paul Harris Awards for their amazing work done to make our Jack Frawley Memorial Golf Outing every June such a success. The proceeds are used for our Scholarship program for Leyden High School seniors. Thank you!

*****Rotary International is requesting that we keep track of our Rotary Volunteer Hours for 2018-2019. Each week you can just jot down your information on our attendance sheet or keep track of those hours to report in a couple of weeks. Collectively we will have an amazing number!! Thanks.

*****It is not too early to think about the Holiday Season 2017 for three of

our charities.

****Mercy Housing Lakefront Grand Family Apartments continue to need our support. We would like to continue to give a gift to each of ten grandmothers with several gift cards to help stretch their meager budgets for the holidays. These need to be in the denomination of $25 from Target, Walmart or Walgreens. Larry Fritz, our beloved Scrip (Manna) Chair, will order for us with a financial benefit coming back to the Club. 1fritzlaw@att.net

****In mid-November the Hines VA Hospital Veteran Stand Down will be held at Humboldt Park Armory. Each year our Club has gathered men's winter coats for these homeless vets. The sizes should be from Large – XXXL. No leather or ladies coats will be accepted. Check out your closets or any resale shops in your neighborhood. Any questions? patranttila@gmail.com We need volunteers to help on both days. If you are available to join us, let us know.

****My Joyful Heart has asked if we could help My Joyful Santa with fulfilling of some Christmas requests from some of the children at the Grand Family Apartments. We will have a "Santa" available at either this or next meeting for your selection of a card with a child's name and three of their requests (depending on the speed of the mail service). Purchase any or all and place unwrapped in a gift bag with the request card attached. Santa will also add MJH's regular gift items (shampoo, lotions, toothcare items, gloves, scarf, etc.) We need to deliver our items to My Joyful Heart by the latter part of November, so bring your gifts by Thursday, November 15th. Thank you so much for supporting this project!!
