The Rotary Club of Chicago -O'Hare

meets weekly at 12:00 noon

The Great Escape in Schiller Park IL

*****On Thursday, July 12, 2018, the Rotary Club of Chicago O'Hare will welcome Diane Carroll from My Joyful Heart giving us an update on their amazing program with 760 children enrolled this year. Our Club sponsors two children for the opportunity of receiving several gift bags per year to help them be ready for school, get a birthday gift and have lots of the basics. Her summer visit will include “A Back to School” Drive by us to help her amass the supplies she will be distributing. Check the list below – bring all items to the meeting on July 19th or before. Thanks for making a difference!! We look forward to seeing you at lunch!

***** We will have a Grants Committee meeting just following the meeting at !:30 PM. The following week will be the Club Board meeting for which our new Governor Pedro will attend.

*****Congratulations to Mike Sullivan upon accepting the new role as President of the Rotary Club of Chicago O'Hare! The new Club Board was installed last week also including: Francoise Pierre President Elect, Kay Whitlock – Secretary, Glenn Spachman – Treasurer, Frank Holthouse, Ed Jacob, Jim Testa, Mas Ishida, Larry Fritz, Pat Ranttila, Chuck Henschel with Dave Woodcock – Foundation Chair, Sylvia Jewgieniew – Membership Chair and John Kearns – Sergeant at Arms. Sounds like a great team leading our Club! Thank you for agreeing to accept the job!

*****District 6450 has installed our 2018-2019 Governor Pedro Cevallos-Candau! Fred Otto, Past District 6450 Governor, carried out the ceremony at the beautiful Union League Club. Thanks also for our members representing the Rotary Club of Chicago O'Hare – Sylvia and Hank Jewgieniew, Bev Otto, Pat and Jack Ranttila, Kay Whitlock, and Dave Woodcock. Governor Pedro will be visiting and sharing his vision to our Club and Club Board this summer on Thursday, July 26th. Please plan to attend this special event.

*****Rotary International is requesting that we keep track of our Rotary Volunteer Hours for 2018-2019. Each week you can just jot down your information on our attendance sheet or keep track of those hours to report in a couple of weeks. Collectively we will have an amazing number!! Thanks.

*****Our Rotary Club donated 500 blankets, slippers, pillows with cases, First Aid Kits, pajamas, I-Pad covers and full amenity kits to the Jesse White Trunk Party. This is a traditional where supportive families and friends fill a trunk for a college-bound student with all of the essentials for a successful college experience. In this case, the larger community will show our support to 500 disadvantaged kids at the Trunk Party this past week-end. Thanks to Jack and Pat Ranttila (the Event Coordinators), John Kearns, and Sylvia Jewgieniew for representing our Club at this event!
