The Rotary Club of Chicago -O'Hare

meets weekly at 12:00 noon

The Great Escape in Schiller Park IL

*****On Thursday, April 26, 2018, the Rotary Club of Chicago O'Hare will welcome Paul Reiman, Head of Rewards and HR Operations for Commvault, a global provider of data management software and related solutions, who will speak about Can We Solve the Gender Pay Gap? You’ve heard the statistic: in the United States, the median pay of full-time working women is around 20% less than the median pay of full-time working men. It’s a challenge that has attracted attention in the media and has been the source of protests nationwide. In this presentation, we will diagnose the underlying causes of the gender pay gap, explain what makes it. In his role he oversees the global vision and execution of the organization's compensation, benefit, mobility, HR systems, and HR analytics programs. Join us for lunch at The Great Escape at noon.

*****Important Request!! Now is the time to start donating raffle and silent auction items for the Jack Frawley Memorial Golf Outing – Chicago O'Hare Rotary on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington IL. This fundraiser is our biggest and best for scholarships for Leyden High Schools. Our Club expects every member to donate time, raffle items and support for this event. Mike Plichta, Chair of the event, would like you to email him with your donation information and bring any items to Pat Ranttila at our Club meetings. Larry Fritz will handle the Manna Scrip cards if you choose to buy those for your donation. Check with Larry for his next ordering. Thank you for your efforts to make this our best!!

*****Rotary Club of Chicago Visioning: We want all regular and Honorary members to please plan to attend our Club Visioning led by District Representative Linda Yates to look at our Club goals, alignment with District and International expectations, and a plan for our future. An exciting opportunity for your say in the Club's direction! The Saturday, April 28th meeting will be held at Christopher B. Burke Engineering, Ltd. At 9575 West Higgins Road, Suite 600, Rosemont IL from 9:00 – 12:00. Any questions?

*****Earth Day 2018 Just in time for Earth Day our Club has donated $175, to be matched by our District 6450, to “Plants with a Purpose” agency who will plant trees in one of eight International countries. In deforested areas this will provide income, food and community connection for the residents of these communities. Ian Riseley, International President, “Trees are good for us. They absorb carbon and release oxygen, they support biodiversity, they improve our soil, our climate, and our moods. While not an area of focus, the environment is a physical reality that underpins every area of Rotary's work. Opening our thinking to environmental issues means moving from a mindset of reaction, to one of prevention.” Thank you to our members for our collection and to the Board for supporting this International initiative.
