Leyden Business Incubator program
Feb. 22, 2018
The purpose of the presentation is to discuss our new Leyden program, Business Incubator. Business Incubator will start in the 2018-2019 school year, and will take students through the entire entrepreneurial process, allowing them an opportunity to create a product/service, pitch the product/service, and hopefully gain funding from investors to pursue their idea. This is very similar to the TV show "Shark Tank" - but will be happening right here at Leyden High Schools! We are looking for hopeful participation from Rotary members in the form of contacts that would like to serve as content experts, team coaches or potential investors.

Reprioritizing services for youth experiencing homelessness. Casey Holtschneider, PhD, LCSW, Assistant Professor
This presentation critically examines the traditional approach to services for youth in situations of homelessness. Directly informed by the lived experience of young people, it calls for a shift in both our understanding of the issue as well as the current strategies being implemented to address it.

Can We Solve the Gender Pay Gap? You’ve heard the statistic: in the United States, the median pay of full-time working women is around 20% less than the median pay of full-time working men. It’s a challenge that has attracted attention in the media, quotes from past Presidents, and has been the source of protests nationwide. In this presentation, we will diagnose the underlying causes of the gender pay gap, explain what makes it.
