Dr. Whalen started her role as the 8th President of Foothill-De Anza College in March 2023. Foothill College has been operating an off-site campus for almost 30 years. In 2006 voters approved a bond measure that included funds to secure a permanent education center in Sunnyvale. In 2012 Foothill obtained 9.15 acres of the Onizuka Air Force station, where it built a 50,000 sq ft state-of-the-art instructional facility.
