From Kalama Park in the morning to Kamaole III

On Saturday, April 29 our club and community volunteers will be installing Rescue Tube Stations on six of Maui’s of Maui's south shore beaches.

ON SATURDAY APRIL 29 THERE WILL BE THREE SHIFTS
S​hift 1: 7:45 AM–​10:45 AM
​Shift 2: 1​0​:​45 AM–​2 PM
Shift 3: 2 PM–5 PM
Each shift has four tasks:
  • Moving and Assembly: Need to be able to move and assemble all parts of the Rescue Tube. This is a physical job. Gloves are required.
     
  • GPS Reporter: Need GPS phone app to plot exact location of rescue tube. The same GPS device needs to be used for the duration of the day as they all need to be calibrated. One person only.
     
  • Documentation: Need to record exact latitude and longitude and write clearly for each post as communicated by the GPS Reporter. This position cannot be traded out during the shift. One person only.
     
  • Hospitality/Mobile Services: People to take water to people on the beach.
We will be working in the sun for approximately 3 hours. Need to be able to walk 2-3 miles in the sand. Wear sunscreen and a hat. 
 
HOSPITALITY AND CENTRAL COORDINATION TENT
​Location:​ Kamaole #1 Beach (KAM 1) in the grassy area across from the ABC Store. Look for the signs.
Event coordinators will be available ​at the tent all day. 

This will be the home base for the entire day and the pick-up location for water and other supplies.​

 

SHIFT 1 (7:45 AM– 10:45 AM)

STARTING LOCATION
​The first shift starts at North Kalama Beach Park, on the beach side of the tennis courts.
 
LOCATION AFTER START OF MORNING SHIFT
As the day progresses, our work locations will move southward from beach to beach throughout the day—from ​Kalama Beach Park to Cove Park, Charley Young, ​Kam 1, ​Kam 2, and Kam 3.

THINGS TO BRING
  • Bring easily carried beach chairs, hats, sunblock & work gloves for those working at each installation on the beaches.
  • Other items needed: scissors, black electric tape
  • Does anyone have a wagon with oversize wheels that will work on sand? If not we'll still need a canvas wagon to move stuff around.
  • All hospitality volunteers & Morale supporters who signed up, bring chairs to KAM #1 Central Hospitality and Central Communications tent.
