The Rotary Club of San Jose held what was described as the most important meeting of each year titled The Night of Giving.
  
On May 31st the Rotary Club of San Jose held what was described as the most important meeting of each year titled The Night of Giving. A Presidents Day golf tournament is held each year at San Jose Country Club to raise money for twelve local charities.  On May 31st representatives of the charities, Rotary members and other guest attended the meeting to honor service to community provided by each charity.  Approximately $20,000 was distributed to The Boy Scouts of America sponsored by Rotarian Mike Brannam, Volunteers in Medicine  sponsored by Rotarian Gwenn, Vision is Priceless,  sponsored by Rotarian Richard LaMee, Pine Castle sponsored by Rotarian Tommy Entenza, Field of Dreams  sponsored by Rotarian Ron Shamlaty, USO sponsored by Rotarian John Curtain. represented by Rotarian Mike O'Brien, Seamark Ranch sponsored by Rotarian Mike Farmand, NAMI sponsored by Rotarian Mike Farmand, Grace Ministries sponsored by Rotarian Roy Miller, Jacksonville Speech & Hearing sponsored by Rotarian Rosa Heard, San Jose Catholic Housing Assoc. sponsored by Rotarian Buddy Lawrence represented by Joe DeSalvo,  and the YMCA sponsored by Rotarian John Curtain.   
Additionally,  the dedication of a bus for the severely disabled purchased through a Rotary Grant was announced.  The grant was approved this rotary year and the bus was purchased for Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital. The Rotary Club of San Jose joined the Arlington Rotary Club to sponsor the Grant presented to Rotary District 6970.
