Editor's Notes

This is the first "single meeting" newsletter. If folks from the lunch group would like to have their info included why not appoint a different person each week to take notes? Perhaps the task won't seem so daunting if it's not a "forever" task?

The Cocktail group agreed that beginning in July, this is how they will handle the bulletin. Someone will be asked to volunteer at the beginning of each meeting.  Remember if you are not a fan of the Club Runner program you can do the bulletin in word and just email it out. I know I appreciate learning what I miss on weeks I'm away.
Welcome New  and Visiting Rotarians

Sandra Smith and Kevin Healey, a former club member (2004!) have been joining us for the past couple of weeks. "Bruce" has been in attendance each week and still, Sandra and Kevin keep coming back.  We don't understand it but are very happy that they do!

Welcome also to our guest speaker James Maxwell.

Birthdays and Anniversaries

Happy Birthday to Allison, Rick and Allan!

Congratulations to Deena and Jeff (Hope I captured that correctly) celebrating 21 years!

Club anniversaries Include Cat - 3 years on May 7, Bill - 40 years on May 1 and Rusty who joined Rotary on May 1, 57 years ago!

Club Announcements
Pitch in was cancelled in April because we would have to dig the garbage out of snow drifts but the wonderful weather has made it possible. Pitch in has been rescheduled to Monday May 7. Meet at 5 or 5:30 at Rotary Place then back to the Langman's for beer and pizza.

Nicole reminded folks that we are sold out of Lobsterfest tickets and have a waiting list. If you have tickets either pay for them or return them pronto! A volunteer sign up sheet will be circulated next week.

Allison reminded folks that the Aquatheatre meeting is being held Thursday evening 7-9 pm at the Tudhope Boardroom. At that time there are plans to create some working groups. Allison will let us know what happens next week.

The Mac and Cheese Lunch is this Thursday! Tickets are $100 pp Please see President Anne to get tickets

Hosts from New Zealand will be visiting Orillia June 17-19.

Happy Bucks
Sarah-Jane was happy, but in a fining kind of mood:  Sandra received a fine for not wearing her name badge. But Sarah-Jane was delighted that her son's job contract was extended and that she skyped with her International Student.
Deane was shamelessly promoting the Orillia Museum of Art History gala. Sounds like a great night out in support of an Orillia gem! As well as regular tickets there are VIP tickets available that have something to do with Bedroom and Beckett (Sounds curious and potentially illegal!)

Deane also had an epiphany on socks. He is done with dull! What do you think of his spiffy new socks - complete with the lovely stripe at the top (look carefully)

President Elect Andrew continues in his boring ways:

Deanna is celebrating the ice being out.  (We all join you in that happiness Deena!)

Heather is happy that her new grandson will arrive soon and that her son is engaged.

Mark fined Allan because his phone rang during the meeting (how many calls did you make before you found someone who didn't shut their ringer off Mark?)
Mark was also happy because of the weather and because they will be visiting Karen's parents in Vancouver (I detected more happiness about Vancouver than visiting in-laws but my happiness detector may be faulty.)

Karen was happy that they will be going to the wild game dinner in Washago this weekend and invited other Rotarians to join them.

Congratulations to Marilyn - she caught a mouse AND emptied the trap all by herself!

Also congrats for your purchase of a cottage on the Severn and a condo in Orillia.  For people trying to reach Marilyn please use her cell - she no longer has the business or house line.

Andrew is pleased that his wife is in the final cut for Second City which will be coming to Orillia October 27. Break a leg!

Grant is pleased that being May 1, tax season is officially over!

Julie has listed her house for sale

James Maxwell shared great information about the Big Brothers Big Sisters after school program success. These programs have been proudly supported by our club. Let's do more for this great cause. Those of you on The Facebook or The Twitter - find BBBS, like them, share their posts and remind people how much a little brother or little sister could benefit from their time!

Thanks too to James for bringing us Bruce Showers.
