Welcome Guests!

The cocktail meeting had two guests this evening along with the regular cast.

Welcome (for the last time) guest Francis Bowers.  Francis has filled in the paperwork and will now be a regular Rotarian!

Welcome Terri Soukup who is checking out our club.  Thanks all for being on your best behaviour!
Editor's Notes

Tom Bristow!  You rock! Thanks for great notes.

Next week we need more heros! The editor will be away. We need notes from both groups and someone to compile them. If you hate the Club Runner platform, you can just make a newsletter in Word and send it as an attachment! Leaving it to you.
Club Adminstration
A pilot project saw some big changes to the way we operate.  Some have made things better and others were not as well embraced. Apparently the club has re-instated some of the things that were removed during the Beta testing phase.

One of the changes relates to the bulletin.  While Tony and Ihave helped to fix this situation temporarily, the reality is, to have a bulletin, we need people to write and  send it.  Start planning now, this is a 6 month solution.

The committees are back!
Committees have returned with a bit of a twist.  Committee membership is voluntary and people are not assigned.  The people signing up for committees seem pretty enthused to be involved.  Because I am running very late in getting the bulletin out; and because Tony did a better job of capturing committee membership than I did, I am not publishing the committees this week.  Watch next week - perhaps I will be more efficient and someone will have taught me to cut and paste!
Club Announcements
Sign up sheet for President's Night  was circulated. It's early this year! June 5 at Fern Resort.  Lunch meeting that day will NOT be cancelled. No Cocktail meeting.

Nancy W. has 2 women's Rotary golf shirts available. Size XL  She plans to order more shirts, please let her know if you plan to order one.

Lobsterfest is sold out - May 25 - but we still need volunteers!

John let us know something about Digital News and Village Media. Hand writing interpretation is a challenge. Perhaps John could re-announce next week?

New Zealand Rotarians visiting in June as part of a Rotary exchange. Hosts are needed for 2 fun nights.

District Governor visit will be October 9!

Whole table except guests were late

Tony T for being a Bruins fan.

Randy Klein for being really late

Birthday Table

CLIFF HAD A HUGE ISSUE WITH A FINE THAT BRIAN LEVIED. HE BELIEVED IT INFRINGED ON THE 4 WAY TEST: IS IT BENEFCIAL FOR ALL! APPARENTLY IT GENERATED A LARGE AMOUNT OF SMALL CHANGE AND CLIFF HAD TO ROLL IT ALL! THIS MAY GO TO THE SUPREME COURT FOR A RULING

Fines from the Cocktail Group

Heather tracked down Deane to pay up for last week's faux pas of admitting, in public that he wears a Fanny Pack.

Deane successfully defended his wearing of a fanny pack, because his, was not just any fanny pack, but a designer variety fanny pack.
Happy Bucks
Family Happiness (Who doesn't love family?)
Nancy and Anne had wonderful mother's day celebrations!
Sandra is ecstatic that her daughter will be visiting from Halifax for the long weekend. (In case her son reads this, she is also happy that her son and daughter in law from Toronto will be visiting for the long weekend!)
Alan was happy that their daughters visited and left again.
Andrew S. was happy to have revisited his old friends at the lunch meeting and to have had the good fortune of sitting next to a Bristow at both meetings in one day. (OK - we're Rotary and almost like family)
Kevin was happy (use your emotions Kevin...proud? excited? ROTFL?) as his son played his first T-Ball game.

On Moving and Travel
Deena sold her house and will be building in Washago!
Julie was happy that her house sold in just 2 weeks. She will be relocating to Alcona and sadly will only be an occasional visitor at our meetings. (Sigh)
Laura was happy to be back from her long and much envied European odyssey.
Linda G is heading to Italy with her husband for a 2 week and much envied odyssey.

Random Happiness

Dave S. was thankful to John for something that had to do with volunteering and possibly baseball

Chris was happy to have found her way after heading to Tudhope Park instead of Tudhope room for the Aquatheatre and for missing pitch in Days due to the date change.

Tony was sad about the voting procedure - read the insert that came in the mail - will post to the secret group!
Lynn was happy to have been named the woman of distinction and proud to have been nominated for woman of the year (we think you are very distinct Lyn and so we are proud of you too!)

Mike was happy to not be flying. He was also happy to have escaped a blaze at a hotel he was staying at. He found the scorched room and his sleuthing skills deducted that an unattended iron was the culprit.
