Nancy W. told us we rec'd the tax receipt from Foundation for our picnic in the parks last summer--$15 per picnic for a total of $30 .

Angela and TonyT went to Roteracft meeting yesterday at Brewery Bay .  This is the post-secondary group, 10-12 members came out.  They have a pond hockey tournie planned during winter carnival weekend and are looking for 16 teams , also looking for refs.  They want us to get involved in the Rotary day of giving on Aprl 12.  They compile a list of people who need jobs dones and they look for people to do them.

50/50 winners  1st was Neil McKendrick ith $20, 2nd prize was Lawrence Shaw.  .  Total collected was $60 so $30 goes to Foundation.

Sergeant at arms was Randy Klein.  Tony A. was fined for his questionable math skills re:  50/50 division of funds.  Neil and Lawrence fined for winning 50/50 draw.  $1 per person from Birthday Girl Laura's table  John Mattinson was billed $1 for failing to tell our guest what room we meet in.....shame on you!  Greg lost $1 as he is a banker and bankers do well over Christmas with all the credit cards $ people spend.  Randy cashed in for the club with the cold weather, charging $1 for merchants selling winter clothing, travel industry for folks going South, anyone actually going South ( John and Nancy W), and if you have a tan( that would be Ralph Cipolla).

Sargeant at Arms / HappyBucks
Sargeant at arms was Randy Klein and his shannigans were noted in the above section.
No happy bucks were reported by this editor who may have been daydreaming about those going south, tans, shopping with credit cards or skiing wearing winter clothing.  If there were happy bucks, pls let me know so that I can add them this week......

Guest Speaker / Program

John Mattinson introduced our speaker, Mike Kingley of the Kempenfelt Rotary Club.  Mike was the past presidents and he has attended 4 international conferences. He was involved in the leadership of the GSC exchange to Taiwan last year.  He has also participated in a cultural and vocational exchange to INdia.  Mike and 4 young professionals went to Taiwan from their district.  He showed us pics from a spoke factory for high end racing bikes and talked of the lack of manufacturing now in Taiwan ( no more "made ikn Taiwan") and the focus moreso currently on the development of tourism.  He met the district governor.  He saw TAIPEI 101--the 2nd tallest world tower and spoke of the importance of tea ceremonies and tea shops.  He met the outbound GSC team coming to Canada.  They stayed with 8 different hosts and were feted and lots of parties after each host.  He even tried snake soup.  He was even provided with Hello Kitty bedding which was apparently very very special.  He met the incoming Rotary International president.  Over there, they tend to have Rotary dinner meetings that spouses attend as well. They even experienced an earthquake while there.  Lots of courses ( 13) during the meals in Taiwan.  Thanks Mike for the interesting presentation!
