Wendy win the weekly draw and then drew the Queen of Spades !to win the big pot (little over $500). Wendy very graciously donated her full prize to Rotary Foundation.

Nancy: Bowling Night fundraiser is Monday Feb 11th. Sign-up as a group or individual. Over $1,000 raised last year which was matched by Region
Anne: Lighthouse Dinner (Tues. Jan 8th) fed close to 50 people. In addition to Anne, our volunteer group included Wendy (and son), Sharon, Megan, Tammy and Sarah. We provided and served lasagna, caesar salad, pies and ice cream. The Lighthouse provides 3 meals each day to people in Orillia who are homeless/vulnerable and has room to accommodate 15 over night.
Jen Grace introduced student of the month Jillian Walker. Jillian is a Gr. 12 student who excels in all subjects. She is a responsible, dedicated and passionate individual active in numerous volunteer, fundraising and social issue awareness projects. Just a sampling of these include Me to We, Lighthouse volunteer, Coldest Nite Walk, annual Kidney Walk, organizing bake sale to raise money for Sharing Place, volunteering at the hospital. Jillian led a Vow of Silence day to show support and awareness for people without a voice. She also was organizer of a Water Walk to symbolize and raise awareness for people who have to walk miles just to get water.

Sarah Vurma introduced student of the month Matthew Gordon. Matthew is a Gr. 11 student who deserves recognition for his academic achievements, outstanding level of involvement and volunteer work. He has been on Student Council since Gr. 9 and served the last 2 years as Treasurer. He is member of swim ream, x-country and Nordic ski teams, jazz band (trumpet), Arts Council, etc. Matthew was selected as one of the Twin Lakes students who will be hosting Inuit students here and then visiting them in Clyde River, Nunanvut. In his ‘spare’ time, Matthew has organized Home Room Challenge and been MC for school events.
