Francis: Snowflake Series - need volunteers for January 1 Marilyn: International, research project has not been completed but will be done soon Marilyn: Membership, gained 6 members and lost 6 members; Washago Club is disbanding & 5 of their members will be joining Rotary Orillia. Lunch Club is 41 members & Satellite is 42 members (after new members from Washago) Social Committee: Charter Night, gift Exchange $ 20.00, funds raised will go to Hospice or Jubilee Foundation. Cost for Satellite $ 40.00 & Lunch $ 12.00 Vocational: Junior Achievement Canada $ 1100.00. Facilitator goes to elementary schools to teach basic life skills such as financial skills Special Projects: Renamed Aqua Theatre Project, next meeting December 17. January 10 at 4:00 will be a meeting with city; structure has been deemed ok to proceed and upgrades will be ongoing. Saturday in mid September for Gala fundraiser at Opera House; tickets will likely be $ 100.00; volunteers will need to be on gala committee. Foundation: Purple Pinkie to promote awareness of International Polio Day, did very well; December 6 meeting of Rotary Foundation of Canada Programs: December 4, Student of the Month & Rotary 101, December 11, Charter Night No Meeting December 25 or Jan 1 Classifications: Let Sarah Jane know if you want to do yours, Dennis Good suggested that current members also do a mini classification so that new members can get to know more about them. PR Committee: No committee at present - send photos to Megan Bondy to post on FB International Student Weekend: February 22, meeting in early january to coordinate Club Admin: Lunch club members take on duties for 6 months at a time. Suggestion to return to having the 4 way test text on the tables at meetings Lunch Wendy introduced the student of the month from each High School. Calla Johnston from OSS with French teacher Kristen Schlorff. Calla stays on top of her work, she's willing to take risks, she helps a lot with clubs including the Latin club she is a camp counselor and volunteers at the Trillium Manor senior complex. She helps with what it is to be bullied, mental health issues, Equity of volunteerism, and compassion to make the world a better place. Julianne Pires of PF and and teacher Mike Milliard. Julianne Saturdays in the robotics program with Mike Millard and she has learned a lot and it's truly become a brilliant student. Other teachers have also made comments about Julian and recommended her the top student of the month. Julianne has been instrumental in helping bring a tournament to town for robotics, they had a tournament in Toronto with 57 teams and took second place and a spot at the provincial championships. They have expanded the Robotics Academy to public schools and you can get major Scholarships in the states for robotics. Julianne brought in some of the robotics that they built at the school and she's a brilliant programmer which is a major part of the competitions that they go into. She's also done a lot of extracurricular activities and helping and training a new students that want to join the robotics Club Kayla Williamson of Twin Lakes Secondary School and teacher Jeff Irwin. Kayla is full of empathy, she is a leader and impacts lives in the school. She's part of the leader youth leadership program, participated in gender equality, lack of water here and in Tanzania. Has managed the salon at the school in cosmetics and helps other students learn how to use cosmetics. Twin Lakes has the only designation for changemaker and Ontario and Kayla run set. She has developed natural cleansing products for care initiatives for the health and wellness. Some of the products they have developed our natural lip balm, soaps, headache relief products and they sell these products at the school. She has donated her time at they really light hose hope and raise the roof. |
