Allan as this was his last day in the car industry! (Note: Never say never!)
Prolonged discussion on Scott Showers and what table he sat at and who wanted him to sit where and when was he asked, all too confusing to follow, maybe he should sit out in the hall in the future

Paul Berendson and Allie

Paul shared with the club with his daughter’s assistance the Child Welfare Political Action committee Canada.

His own personal story is one of amazing courage and perseverance, giving us all a reason to listen and appreciate his perspective

I urge everyone to go to the web site www.childwelfarepac.com to get the details but in summary the group’s goal is to change the typical outcomes of those in foster care.
Low academic, dropout rate over 56%
Unemployment 19% plus
Homelessness 10 to 13%
Wrong side of the law and typically get hasher sentences?
PTSD as a foster child at twice the rate as military veterans

This group wants the “system” to become evidence based that promotes youth positive outcomes

Goals
1.Research. System accountability through evidence-based policies to check the impact of child protection services.
2.Outcomes Focus. Child protection is permanent for many youth. Plan for their adult futures.
3.Privacy. The privacy rights of juvenile offenders are better protected than those of kids from child protection. Seal protected kids' files after "aging-out".
4.Mental Health. The rates of post-traumatic stress for youth after care is almost double that of war veteran populations. Need a trauma informed strategy.

How can we be involved
