50 50 and Sarge and Happy Bucks

50 50 winners wereCliff 1st and Andrew 2nd.

SARGE

Sarge Randy started off with a $3 fine for first prize 50/50 and on the the same theme , got Keith for mishandling the tickets which probably hid Randy's ticket on the bottom of the pile. Randy also took offense with Kevin when he found him sitting and his place at the table about to eat his lunch and then because his glasses were his excuse for not reading his own notes again blamed Kevin and fined him two times. Randy figured that with Easter coming , anyone in the church business was likely to have a financial windfall fined our Army Captain  Chad Ingram. He also fined Laura for having poor hearing and Tony for fumbling his latest emailing which he claimed went  out 3 times before he got it right.

HAPPY BUCKS

Andrew was bursting with happiness to tell how Orillia's Opera House has landed an award winning play entitled "The Night Alive".   It has played around the world and is an exciting attraction which will be here April 7th to 17th.  He warns us though that this play has adult content is not recommended for the young. And in case you didn't know, the opera house in licensed.  Angela is pleased that Evan is experiencing his first day at our new Orillia High School . Laura is happy that she now knows this years RI presidents theme is "Serving Humanity".  Nancy Amos is happy to move into her new office and that it is close to Ralphs. Randy is happy to have family joining him at home this Easter. Kevin donated a dollar for both himself and Mario because they will be joining Carl in Florida for a short golf vacation. Finally someone offered a dollar in condolence for Nancy having her office close to Ralph.

Program

Our Guest speakers today were Sandra Dunn and Jim Fitzgerald from HOSPICE Orillia

Sandra and Jim came to introduce us to Hospice Orillia which is a relatively new volunteer organization .  We may be familiar with Simcoe Hospice which is located north of the Barrie Hospital.  Jim set up a video tour of the home that accommodates those who are near end of life and do not want to die in a hospital or are unable to manage at home.  It is a beautiful and peaceful building with spacious and comfortable rooms , kitchen , common areas as well as nicely laid out gardens. Also it is staffed with nurses and volunteers to help guests and their families feel comfortable.
End of life planning is something that everyone must do eventually and although some can manage at home with help from hospice others need to move to hospital or Simcoe Hospice or a long term care facility for their final days.
Sandra and Jim and their executive going to open a hospice accommodation here in Orillia.  The plan is already in place to rent and renovate a wing of Champlain Manor to have 5 bedrooms along with common rooms to provide a comfortable  homelike atmosphere. It will be serviced by Champlain manor. but run by Hospice Orillia. This project will be partly funded by government grants and funding as well as fundraising from the community.  Hospice will also continue as they always have to serve the needs of the dying and their families whether it be at ones own home or at a hospital,
