Announcements.
Dale Bernard advised that Lake Country Rotary's 3rd annual Dragon Boat Race at Couchiching Park is on September 20th. She invited our Club to consider putting a 20 person team together and entering our own dragon boat in the event. Each member in a dragon boat must obtain a pledge of $50.
Dale also invited members of our club to join Lake Country Club on a Scout Valley hike/fellowship event. Its being held on July 24th from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and is pot luck. If the weather isn't nice - we can gather in Regan House on the Scout Valley premises and be nice and warm and dry. Just show up with your pot luck if you can come. It's nice to be invited! And to meet members of our sister club. Please come out to this event if you can. The Washago club is being invited as well.
Dave Shaw announced that we still need a host family for our Youth Exchange student from the last week of August until the end of October. Dave managed to have other host families extend their hosting time, so it now makes this initial period shorter. The student will be going to Twin Lakes. But if buses only go to OD/Park - the student can catch a shuttle from OD to Twin. Please discuss with your partner and let Dave know as soon as possible.
Our returning Italian youth exchange student will be hopefully speaking to our club on august 5th.
The Train needs a volunteer team this Saturday, july 19th at 9:00 am to remove weeds and stones from the railway tracks. We need to get this done to pass our inspection. Please show up with a spade, shovel, gloves, etc.
District Governor, Gary Traill will be speaking to our club on august 12th. after our luncheon meeting, we will be taking him on an Island Princess cruise from 2:15 pm - 4:30 pm. If you - and your partner - would like to join in on the cruise - our club will be doing a mass purchase of tickets for everyone who wants to go. Please advise President Nancy if you would like to go.
