Rotary Club of Orillia - ZOOM First!
As we have all come to realize over the past few weeks, the situation we our seeing ourselves in is dynamic an changing every day. As such, we had to make the decision to suspend our weekly lunch and satellite meetings effective March 24th until further notice.
We are in an evolving extraordinary situation and we are managing this as we go. Rest assured, communication will continue to flow through our email in boxes and we have now entered a new chapter of holding meetings online via ZOOM.
Let's give a shout out for Club Anniversaries this month. (We've kind of missed some bulletins this month!)

Discussion was around helping in the community right now. We have received letters from the food bank and the hospital about donations. We discussed reallocating funds from our Vocational Committee as we have about $4K that we are no longer using with the cancellation of RILA and the Citizenship Program. The committee voted yes to the food bank and it was presented to club members.
We are asking any members that would like to donate and add to our $4K to please contact Angela before the end of the week.
Jack Nolan has also advised that they have some funds left in Local Needs and the committee will be meeting to decide on that.
As we head towards Lobsterfest and Girls Night Out, It has been recommended to cancel Lobsterfest at this point. Even if things drastically improve in the next four weeks, we are left with a lack of planning/set up room.
With regards to us not bringing in additional revenue at this point in time, we do have approximately $30K in reserve. We will be okay to meet the budgets we have this year.
What Are We Up To?
The best we can! from home!
While most seem to be still working from home, some finding themselves busier then ever, and others have had to close up shop for the safety of all, we are all facing new challenges. We can no longer just have the kids for the weekend or visit for dinner to hug the grandkids. You cannot go hug your parent or your child unless you have been isolated in the same house together. While some of us are now hitting three weeks in isolation and others just starting, it doesn't matter anymore. This is where we are at. COVID-19 has taken over our lives and we must adapt.
We are now living via computer video calls so thank you for technology! Imagine if you had lived through the Great Plague in 1665. The last and one of the worst of the centuries-long outbreaks, killing 100,000 Londoners in just seven months. All public entertainment was banned and victims were forcibly shut into their homes to prevent the spread of the disease. Now that was isolation.
No power, no phones, no TV, no computers, NO PLUMBING!
Now, aren't you glad you live in 2020!
