It's SUMMERTIME!

Even though I have only been observing this Club of Rotarians for a few months.   The one thing I know is the passion everyone has for Rotary,Orillia.  Whether at the Lunch or Satellite meetings.
Rotarians keep planning and striving ahead with many projects in mind.
Even though it is SUMMERTIME!
The sun is out, the skies are blue and the waters are calling.   Many of us are taking summer vacations, refreshing ourselves, destressing, having much needed family time, getting together with friends and enjoying our great Canadian weather.  Enjoy it while you can!   We all know what is coming!

Cheers!

Welcome New  and Visiting Rotarians
Rotary would like to thank Tony for introducing guest Clint to our vibrant satellite meeting.
Also, we welcome Tristan and Ashley from Crank & Sprocket.

Sandra Dunham would like everyone to sign up for the Golf Tournament.   It is a lot of fun even if you are not a good golfer  or as Sandra put it "Sucky" at it.  You will be matched with an actual golfer, so that little white ball will get to the hole and it will not take all day.  The reward is a great dinner after a long day on the golf course.   Sandra also mentioned there are "Twosomes" - not sure what she meant by that!!!! Couples, Singles,  I think we understand now.

Hole in One! Here it comes when Rotarians are on the course.   Most of all have fun!

Tony Telford will be returning to Orphanage to install washrooms.   This warms my heart!

Darlene informed us that we have a booth at the Port of Orillia Waterfront Festival Aug 10 - 12,   looking for coverage for Rotary booth.

Michael is still needing to fill spots by Rotarians for Funfest.   Keep in mind Tip Jar money is donated to AquaTheatre project.

We recently had the Lafontaine's hosting the "Lakehouse Social", followed by Telford 's "Pig Roast and Mosquitoe Fest". This has been pretty Hush, Hush!    I was not able to attend either one of these events since I was doing the vacation thing!

I think it is in the books "Whatever happens at the Lakehouse and Pig Roast stays at the Lakehouse, Pig Roast."
All kidding aside I am sure great fun was had by all.   Although, I am open to hearing about all the stories.

SUMMERTIME DOLLARS!

Everyone is Happy and so is the money jar!
Thank you Rotarians for all this Happiness!

Michael - his youngest is engaged = no more children in the house.

Deana - Summer vacation and the lot is cleared! Ready for a house to be put on it.

Mark - Golfed, he is practicing for the hole in one at the tournament I suspect.  He is happy to see Candy Potter.

Allan - A big event is happening for Tammy and Allan, they are taking a Vacation day.   Ok, you guys need to do better than that.   I know you are waiting for the bad weather to hit to fly away somewhere!

Tony - So happy his friend Clint is at satellite, although he is always so happy. Amazing pig roast enjoyed by all.   Too Cool! Cathleen and Tony flew in a WWII Bomber.   Now that is definitely a bucket list thing to do.   Tony was overwhelmed with joy, he even relived it right with us.   Goosebumps throughout his body!

President Andrew - Attended Pig Roast.   His 3 year old daughter taught him how to get up and dance the night away!   Big News! Andrew sold his business and he is starting a new business adventure!   Very exciting!

Sarah Jane - Rocking out with Crash Test Dummies, Kim Mitchell and Bare Naked Ladies.   Sarah Jane is our new Music Critic!

Just a Note:   I may not get everyone's names correct.   Please excuse me!   I am still a rookie.

Speaker
 Crank & Sprocket,  Orillia
Sara Jane introduced our guest speaker Tristan Spurr & Ashley Brown of  Crank and Sprocket.

Tristan and his partner Jacob have had a passion for bikes since a young age, racing bikes and fixing bikes.   In 2017 they united and opened Crank & Sprocket.  They both have young families, so the whole family is involved.  Ashley works in the store with great professional female presence.   Jacob's wife, is organizing and getting woman out biking.

The two of them have the same passions of giving back to the community in their business.    It is wonderful to hear of business's main objectives are giving back.  How are they doing this?
They are organizing School Bike Rodeos, teaching bike safety in schools with the help of the Health Unit and OPP.   They sponsor 2 Youth Development Teams of 140 athletes strong!
Crank & Sprocket are happy that they are also, getting families out biking, tourists biking, eating, drinking & shopping in our city. Making Orillia strong.   Our new hashtag #Orilliacyclesstrong
I would say this company is giving back!

Some of there services include:
Maintenance and Service of all types of bikes
Bike Rentals to Community and as part of Simcoe County's tourism.   They work in conjunction with B & B's, Hotels and Orillia Tourism.
Provide Maps of Local and Simcoe County Trails

Sandra Dunham loves the Crank & Sprocket.   She wants us all to try out biking.  Sandra says go rent a bike.   There rates are anywhere from $ 15.00 - 25.00/day.    Wow!   You cannot beat that.

As Sarah Jane has not been on a bike for a 100 years! She is going to rent a bike for $ 15.00/day, go to girlfriends for some cocktails, some rock & roll  and come home the next day!   Sounds like a good Girls night out!

Then there is Clint (Tony's friend).   He rides a great Canadian Tire bike and with a bit of Viagara he is able to ride.  It must get him going.   Did not know Viagara worked in different ways!  I think to keep up and show off to his buddies he will be renting his next bike and will keep up with his riding group.    Go Clint Go!  Keep us posted.

I am happy to hear this new business has doubled its business in 2 years, is focused on keeping up with great service and passionate on giving back to the community.

I did not know CAA will pick up your bike if you break down.   I think Sarah Jane and Clint should look into this service.   Just in case!

Please go and check out the Crank & Sprocket for your next bike rental or service.   Rotarians care about supporting  local business.
