At our last meeting, as part of our Member Spotlight, Holger Rieckenberg shared the exciting true story of the Flying Bandit, also known as Ken Leishman, a bank robber- turned small town mayor whose plane mysteriously went down in Thunder Bay in the late ‘70s.
We also heard from guest speaker Matt Thompson about the importance of pollinators in our ecosystem and how their habitats can be protected and improved. Matt also shared some of his experiences working on pollinator gardens and provided tips on choosing pollinator-friendly plants for home gardens.
This past weekend was the Custom & Classic Car Show. The show was well-attended, and the 50/50 alone raised over $2000 for Rotary!

August 19- Hosting Chamber Business After Five Event
Coming up this week we have a very special meeting: we are partnering with the Orillia & District Chamber of Commerce and Creative Nomad to host a Business After Five networking event.
Remember to wear your Rotary shirt/ pin/ hat/ etc., and bring a friend. There will be snacks and all guests will receive a drink ticket, good for a glass of wine or beer.

August 26- Rotary Golf Day
We’re heading to Bonaire Golf Club for our annual golf tounament. Expect a fun, low-competition day on the course followed by dinner and fellowship.
